Top tips for creating an Alice in Wonderland wedding
A PIECE OF MAGIC
From going down the rabbit hole, flying books or exploding centrepieces its easy to create that little piece of magic
Mad Hatters tea party
Crammed full of vintage crockery, tea pots, grass and elaborate centrepieces, creating your wedding breakfast tea party will be fun!
the details
Build in quotes from the books into your day in signage, stationery and lots more. Incorporate more details using playing cards, painted roses, keys and timepieces
Creating your piece of magic!
Creating a magical aspect to your Alice in Wonderland wedding doesn’t have to be hard. From creating exploding tea pot centrpieces (like the one shown below), creating a mystical rabbit hole for people to go down (literally of course!) or even labelling your drinks with ‘this one makes you taller’ and ‘this one makes you smaller’ will work.
If you want to rig up some fancy photo opportunities, get some invisible string (or ribbon) and hang tea cups and tea pots from the trees. You can even try books as well (as per the feature photo).

a mad hatters tea party
Grab your grannie’s vintage crockery (that’s what I did for this styled shoot which is featured), discover charity shops or hire in, vintage crockery and tea pots really makes a Mad Hatter tea party wedding breakfast.
Let your imagination run wild to incorporate different features – here’s some top ideas
- Fake grass looks really good as a table runner. You can use moss as well if you’re feeling adventurous
- Take the pages out of an old Alice in Wonderland book and create your own table runner as shown in the photos
- Stack up some old books as a centrepiece
- Use playing cards throughout especially the Queen of Hearts – either scattered on the table or as bespoke chair decorations (as shown below)
- Using coloured linen works really well – why not use red napkins and fold them into red roses!
- Incorporate hare’s or rabbits – use little ones as table decorations or as bespoke place card holders
Eat me! Eat me!
Now you definitely can’t have a Mad Hatters tea party wedding reception without the cake! There are some brilliant bakers out there who really can create something special for you!
The little details
From incorporate the details into your wedding bouquet, button holes, hair pieces or shoes – there is tonnes of opportunities!
