Unconventional Wedding

Glastonbury Gothic Same Sex Wedding Styled Shoot

Dare you enter the ‘Unconventional Wedding’ haunted church this Halloween?

Well it’s not too spooky today with this gothic same sex wedding inspired styled shoot shot in Glastonbury.  It’s a moody and atmospheric which suits the venue perfectly.  Packed full of dark colours with black, purple and red, it certainly captures the imagination with the stunning flowers and table decor. All set against the gothic brickwork and gorgeous dresses.

As Sarah from Photo Press who co-ordinated the shoot says,  “I was … really keen for it to be same sex, because despite the change in law for equality where marriage is concerned, I feel that the industry hasn’t caught up and styled shoots for non-traditional couples are massively under represented. I wanted to help shift this!

Choosing the right Gothic wedding venue

Sarah’s first top tip for creating this look is to find the right venue because it makes the rest easy. If you can have this as your backdrop, you don’t need to do a lot of styling and your photos will be amazing.

Go black and own it

Secondly, the dresses and accessories … go black and own it. Some people are scared because black is associated with death, but it doesn’t need to be that way. This is the perfect opportunity to change mindsets.

Get the best wedding flowers you can

And lastly, get the best flowers you can afford! Some people think flowers are just a thing you should have, but they can massively change the way you, your venue and table look! Also, for gothic, go foraging. We foraged all the ivy and some other foliage from local woods and it’s free!
