Gothic City Wedding In Sheffield

Photographer Hayley Gell described this gothic city wedding shoot as ‘one giant f*ck you to covid’. We were instantly hooked!

This pandemic has forced us to do things differently and find new ways to do what was once the norm. As Unconentionals, we love the challenge. Seeing all of the inventive, outrageous and frankly badass ways couples and wedding suppliers have pulled through will never fail to inspire us. Fingers crossed we’re finally nearing the end!

This styled shoot captures that badass attitude and we are loving it. Keep scrolling for more alternative wedding gorgeousness.

how to rock a gothic city wedding

rock a black wedding dress

Black is powerful, bold, and elegant - Incorporate it into your wedding look!

Accessorise with soft colours

This shoot creates a romantic feel by bringing in blush pink to contrast the black.

An epic city backdrop

Do you have a city that means a lot to you? An urban/industrial backdrop can really make your wedding photos epic.

Gothic City Wedding - A Screw You To Covid

Here’s what photographer Hayley Gell told us about this gothic city wedding shoot:

“This styled shoot is my last f*ck you to covid, before we get back to normal!  It started with the black wedding dress and developed from there. I wanted to use Sheffield, the city I live and work in, as the backdrop. I’ve always been drawn to the less traditional and more alternative styling, so I created a romantic and fresh take on a goth/rock wedding look. We used blush pinks and creams for all of the accessories to create contrast and found suppliers who complimented each other to bring this look together. Lucy & Dan are a real couple and were perfect for this shoot.”

Epic Wedding Accessories & Styling Gorgeousness

We love a bold accessory and this gothic city wedding is full of ‘em! We love the ‘F*ck You Covid’ wedding veil by Holly Winter Couture, hand-painted leather jackets by Abigail Laura Bespoke, and statement lace boots by House of Elliot. So badass! The bridal look is completed with a romantic halo headband by Garter & Veil and a blush pink wedding bouquet by Norris Floristry. MUA Eleanor Ryder created a statement eye and a soft, dreamy complexion for Lucy.

Streamers provided by Streamadelica complimented the elements from each of the suppliers and brought the look together. When shooting in a city environment, having styling elements on board like streamers or smoke bombs can really bring that extra ‘pazazz’.

Wedding photographers Hayley Gell and Adele Drummond have done an awesome job at capturing the attitude and sentiment of this shoot, as well as the beautiful chemistry between the couple.

Now, Covid, Bog off so we can get on with awesome weddings!
