Marvelous Macabre - Elegant Gothic Wedding Styling
With over 600 years of history, Leicester Guildhall is one of the oldest (and reportedly the most haunted!) buildings in Leicester. With its original 17th Century fireplace and stained glass windows, The Mayors Parlour is the perfect room for intimate wedding ceremonies.
In keeping with the building’s history, the team initially drew inspiration from 17th century still life paintings. Caz from The Wedding Alchemist matched golds and blacks with lots of small details along with Esme Loasby’s dried flowers and taxidermy pieces to create a visual feast of different elements. This elegant gothic wedding features pumpkins and skulls along with a badass crow taxidermy piece to add the Halloween feel.
Lorna (of Lorna Boyer Design) used her own hand-painted florals to bring an element of the paintings that inspired the shoot to the wedding stationery, but with a modern twist. The gold, torn edges tied everything together as the perfect finishing touch.
Elegant Gothic wedding wear - Spooky & Stunning!
These elegant gothic wedding dresses are just GORGEOUS! Bex (of BexBrides) created a number of gowns for the shoot. She designed them to replicate the sumptuous fabric and beading you find in old masters paintings, upcycling vintage dresses with black detailing to add to the macabre feel. Throw on a hand-painted wedding jacket (by Handmade Sign Company) with some handpainted Inanna Bespoke Shoes, and you have a badass Halloween bridal look!
The shoot’s make up artist, Kelly Odell, created an alternative dark bridal look, and for the hair looked at contemporary victorian and vintage hairstyling. Kelly also specialises in Halloween makeup, so the team made the most of this with a secondary, more extreme look in the woodlands!
