Making your wedding day feel like ‘you’ can be a challenge as there are so many ideas out there- it’s easy to lose yourself in a sea of Pinterest boards! This blog is about letting your individual wedding style shine through, which goes beyond your dress!
These breath-taking photos were sent into us by Jenny Maden Photography. I’ve spent a lot of time looking through these (trying to choose the best ones!), and what really strikes me about this shoot is how comfortable the bride looks in her own skin. The photos emanate power and confidence, with a gentle softness peeking through. This is such an individual wedding look that matches the bride’s style perfectly and aims to break convention.
Where to start...
A wedding look like no other
Finding your individual wedding look is about discovering what you feel like the best version of yourself in. Instead of chasing a certain look, go with what feels right, as that’s what will allow your authenticity to shine through. For example, you could wear your favourite pair of shoes/boots on your wedding day, or a coloured dress/suit, or even a pair of jeans if that’s your thing! If you feel confident in your own skin, you can’t go wrong! There’s no point squeezing yourself into a mould just because convention says so. This shoot is all about straying from traditional expectations loudly and proudly.
This stunning, simple wedding dress by The Aisle perfectly shows off the bride’s awesome tattoos. The makeup by Emma Denton is bold and enhances her features whilst the hair, by Sarah Lawrence, is kept slick and simple. I also love the retro chunky hair clips and pearls by Adorn EP- You can never go wrong with a hair accessory to show your personality!
Individual Wedding Styling To Match Your Personality
Think about what colours you’re drawn to when finding your individual wedding style. Are you a crazy colours kind of couple? Or more muted and subtle? Flowers are the main decoration in this shoot, as nothing else is needed to create impact, but the options are endless! Lanterns, draped fabric, quirky ornaments and jam jars are all other quirky ideas.
Floral Dance have absolutely smashed it with these wedding flower arrangements, and of course this epic headpiece! Made of dried flowers in muted tones, with some stems dyed a silvery blue, the flowers make a bold statement. My favourite part of this shoot is the jaw dropping floral headpiece; unlike anything I’ve seen before! It’s artistic, unique and powerful! The flowers tie the whole wedding look together, complimenting the tattoos and the minimal interior of River Mills Ballroom.
This stunning tiered cake was made by Poppy Pickering. The block white with the frill effect matches the minimal yet impactful theme, also reflected in the simple calligraphy stationery by Maria Shtelle.
