It’s finally springtime! The sun is shining, and the flowers are in bloom. We’re getting all the spring vibes from this beautiful wedding shoot, sent into us by Olive Owl Flowers. It’s full of floral inspiration and shabby-chic loveliness. Snapped by Olivia Whittaker Photography, the shoot was built around the statement flower arrangements, demonstrating how you can use your wedding flowers as a starting point and build your décor around them.
"The Earth Laughs In Flowers"
These textured flower arrangements were inspired by jewel colours and peacock feathers, made up of pinks, purples and blues. Speaking to a florist about colour schemes can help you to visualise your wedding flowers and to gather ideas you may not have thought about. Adding things like peacock feathers to a bouquet can add a quirky twist and make a subtle or grand statement. The possibilities are endless! These photos demonstrate the effectiveness of using different textures in wedding bouquets, to create something visually interesting. The wooden backdrop and colourful doors add a rustic feel- simple enough to let the flowers pop.
You can add flowers to pretty much anywhere at your wedding to add a little touch of nature. They could be on your tables in little jam jars, around your entrance, scattered down the aisle, in your hair…anywhere!
Quirky Wedding Dreses
We love these gorgeous wedding dresses by Legend Bridal Designs! Both have beautifully detailed backs, and subtle floral lace. One is a stunning two piece, with a lace cropped bodice and full skirt. The other has a leg slit and intricate beading.
Although we’re crazy about bold flowers, its important that they don’t outshine the wedding dress/dresses! In this shoot, the flowers compliment the dress, adding to the look instead of taking away from it.
Using Wedding Flowers In Your Decor
This wedding shoot took place at Brockholes Nature Reserve in Preston and has a rustic, yet fresh feel. The shabby-chic painted doors add a refreshing colour pop, and the beautiful welcome sign by Signed With Love matches the styling perfectly. Contrasting wooden crates with gold props (like the cake stand and flower stand) can create a nice balance in your wedding décor. The macramé chair cover by House Of Macramé adds a touch of boho, again softening the wooden elements.
We LOVE this understated wedding cake by Lesley Anne Cake Design, showing how simple really can be effective. It adds a lot to the shoot, emphasising the flower theme.
