Rooted Ceremonies East Midlands Celebrant

outdoor handfasting wedding ceremony in nottinghamshire conducted by rooted ceremonies

Hi, I’m Joy from Rooted Ceremonies, and I’m an independent celebrant based near Sherwood Forest. If you’re ready to bring your hearts and your authenticity right into the middle of your ceremony, then I am ready to be by your side! With my gentle, calm and warm presence and super-tuned up listening ears, I can help you to feel at ease as you share what this is really all about for you both and what makes your hearts sing.

I absolutely love hearing stories about first meetings, the moment you both knew, the proposals, and all the beautiful twists and turns in between. While you’re sharing these stories, it’s my job to lead us in a co-creation process where we dream up your ceremony. You provide the ideas, wishes and desires. I provide the creative input, experience and discernment, and turn this all into a beautiful script in line with your personalities, identities, values and world views. And you of course get to edit it and sign it off so there are no surprises.

You are free to include any religious or spiritual elements, or none at all. We can create rituals or symbolic actions, choose readings and poems or use symbolic objects within your ceremony as you commit to one another. We can include family members, children, pets or even the whole of your audience in blessings and we can make space to honour those who cannot be with you.

Also, I offer a few unique touches including pre-ceremony preparation sessions where you can get involved in crafting the materials for the ceremony. I can guide you in the lost art of traditional broom-making if you want to Jump the Broom, or you can dip your own candles with the beeswax from our hives for a candle-lighting ritual. I don’t want your ceremony to disappear in a flash, I want it to be a moment of lasting significance for you, and so the more we consciously prepare for it together, the more you can enjoy it in the moment.

About me: as well as being a celebrant, I love to dance in the woods, sing in circle, eat home-grown veggies, and learn and share practical land skills. I live on a 6 acre bit of land with my partner and child and 5 other households. We take care of the land, grow food for each other and manage our own water supply and mini wind turbines. We also host micro-ceremonies from our community eco-building surrounded by wildlife-rich reedbeds. If you’re planning a tiny and eco-conscious ceremony, ask me about this!
