It’s that time of year again and love is in the air… But we’re not being too soft and fluffy. We want Rock n’ Roll romance this Valentine’s Day! We’re loving edgy styling with a soft touch, so this shoot is perfect! Freeformimages Photography and a dream team of collaborators have created a real neon fantasy, packed with bad-ass attitude and personality!
How To Rock This Neon Wedding Look...
A Quirky Valentine's Wedding Venue
An Mor Hotel, a hidden Cornish Gem, is the perfect backdrop for this retro-inspired Valentine’s shoot. The walls are all works of art in themselves, with exciting paintwork and historical photographs, brought to life by the neon light. A quirky venue can really set the tone of your wedding- this mix of modern and vintage props creates an edgy and eclectic feel and is very visually interesting. The neon signs are a great retro addition, adding both a warm glow and a boldness.
A Cool Valentine's Bride
This edgy yet chic bride has been styled beautifully, keeping the rockabilly feel but remaining bridal. The Casablanca Bridal gowns in this shoot scream ‘romance’, showing how you can keep your elegance with such quirky styling. The jaw-dropping beaded detail adds glamour and plays brilliantly with the light while the voluminous skirt adds drama to the look.
We adore the leather jacket in this shoot from Sammy Lea’s Retro Emporium– they’re the first UK supplier to create jackets that are both lit and painted. Custom jackets are wonderful for injecting personality and edging up your bridal look- You even could rock up your bridesmaids too!
Bold neon Wedding Décor
The vintage mirror has been put to great use as an inventive table plan display, with the pink light as a modern touch. The mirror inspired the classic shape of the menus and stationery, which are based on pinks and purples- just like the gorgeous bouquets! Romantic pink shades are all perfect for a Valentine’s wedding, and here they’ve been styled to look cool and chic instead of stereotypically sweet.
This sparkly table cloth is fabulous! It’s a brilliant way to add a bit of sass to your wedding table, especially when complimented by flower vases filled with fairy lights like in this shoot.
Wedding Food Envy
As well as leaving us inspired, these photos have also left us hungry! The catering (by Jax’s Cakes ‘n’ Bakes) was inspired by the hotel’s gin bar, and included gin and tonic scones, gin cupcakes, gin mousse shots and lots more! We love the idea of high tea with an unconventional twist, as it keeps its retro charm but gains a modern touch.
The wedding cake, by Claire’s Sweet Temptations, draws inspiration from the hotel’s quirky décor, with watercolour paint effects and sugar flowers! Tying things like your catering/cake in with the theme or venue helps to keep your theme running throughout your day, and guests always love the little touches.
Best Valentine's Wishes!
Happy Valentine’s Day from the Unconventional Wedding team! Whether you love it or hate it, we’re sending love and best wishes your way! We hope you’ve loved this blog!
