Unconventional Wedding

Peacock inspired wedding styled shoot at Patrick Barns

What do you get when a group of awesome wedding suppliers, led by Rachael from Rose Petals Vintage, decided to create a peacock inspired styled shoot which is both rustic & decadent!  This gorgeous styled shoot at the stunning 16th century Patrick Barns in Chiddinglye was inspired by Peacocks and Pantone’s colour of the year, Ultraviolet (Purple to you and I)!  If you’ve always dreamed of getting married in a barn but want to get a rustic, laid back feel, alongside some bold statements – this the blog for you.

Ultraviolent (Purple) all the way!

So why purple? As Rachael from Rose Petals Vintage explains

Pantone’s colour of the year is Ultraviolent (Purple) so with it being my favourite colour it was an easy choice to stay with the current trend“.

The bold colour is present through this styled shoot. The highlight for me was the cake with its peacock cake topper, shimmering gold topping and bright, multi coloured sponges. Created by the Garden Chef it’s the perfect combination of rustic and decadent. Apparently, it also tasted amazing!

Oh, and do I need to mention those purple DM’s! Perfect for the relaxed, unconventional & fun bride. Mix with a leather jacket as the team did here for further contrast.

Top tips to acheive this look

BRIGHT COLOURS

Make a bold contract and highlight key details of your wedding day. Use bright candles and table runners too.

LIGHTING

Warm but delicate. Let your venue shine to create the look you want. Create a romantic and cosy look using fairy lights or candles.

GOLD

Build in gold statement pieces to add a decadent, elegant touch.

Incorporating Bright Colours

You can choose bright colours to stand out against your venues features, in this case, the barn wall. Select yourself a bold colour palette to alongside more natural, earthy colours like greenery or browns.

This approach also works really well on your table settings. Use bright candles and table runners to really make an impact. Mix in the little touches like the Peacocks from this Peacock inspired wedding. You can also use this approach to mix it up with your Groom’s choice of tweed suit as they complement each really well.

Make the most of lighting

Lighting really is your greatest friend when it comes to transforming your wedding day and can make a transformation impact. On this peacock inspired wedding styled shoot, the team used warm but delicate lighting to compliment the rustic barn surroundings. Their aim was to create something romantic as well as cosy. LED & fairy lights are so easy to find nowadays it’s easy to make the impact without breaking the bank.

We totally LOVE these peacock inspired lanterns created by Colour Pop Occasions. They look almost magical!

Incorporate Gold accents

Add that touch of luxury with gold accents. As Rachel explains

There is so much choice now for gold statement pieces and it’s no longer that garish gold that can look brassy. Gentle golds, copper golds and rose golds are very popular and it adds the decadent/elegant touch effortlessly. You could even spray paint things to re-create this look on a tight budget“.

Other wedding inspiration

Other aspects to inspire your wedding day from this peacock inspired wedding styled shoot

– The VW DJ Box! What a funky way to mix it up (literally) especially when your bride is also a DJ, as Michelle was in this case. Always try to mix in your personalities to your wedding day.

– The gorgeous hair styling from Rose Petals Vintage. Who’s not a fan of unicorn hair and I love the headpieces too!

– The detailing on the belt worn by the bride. You don’t need to go BIG to make a statement. Sometimes it’s the little details that count.
