We love a unique wedding venue here at UW, and this brilliant wedding features TWO! Lina and Tom Photography captured Richelle & Tom’s quirky wedding day, ensuring the couple received images which celebrated the venues they chose as well as a nodding to their self-confessed geeky nature.
The couple had a tiny wedding ceremony for 22 in the chapel at Edinburgh Castle, followed by afternoon tea. The reception was held at the Museum of Scotland, which is full of stunning photo opportunities! Just look at these incredible shots!
Unique wedding venue #1- Edinburgh Castle
Richelle explains their unique wedding venue choices:
“The first of our unique wedding venues was down to a cheeky student blag years ago – where we pretended to be getting married so we could get into the castle free! After an hour or so of being shown venues and table settings, we were free to see crown jewels and swords! I guess the joke was ultimately on us as it clearly lodged in the back of our minds and when the time came, we both agreed to book there – a good sales tactic!
As we wanted a small gathering, the beautiful St Margaret’s chapel was ideal. The added tourists made the whole thing great fun, if not a touch surreal! You expect to be photographed on your wedding day – but not by so many strangers! I’m sure the guys kilts, my Felicity Westmacott dress, and the service following the 1 o’clock gun elevated our status in the minds of some of the onlookers. At times we felt like royalty!”
Unique Wedding Venue #2 - The National Museum Of Scotland
The quirkiest wedding breakfast, explained!
“We had extra people join us post ceremony so needed to find a venue to fit everyone in. The National Museum of Scotland ticked all the boxes for our second unique wedding venue! So, after a walk down the Royal Mile in all our finery (amazing fun – again more tourists) we ended up there. The museum was closed to the public so we had free reign to explore and have some amazing photos taken. Just the two of us dancing in the vast main hall whilst Lina and Tom took pictures was an experience we will never forget.
At the end of the day, everyone went back to hotels with a smile on their face. There was maybe the odd pair of sore feet, but Tom did tell his mother not to wear those heels!”
