We LOVE a quirky wedding here at UW- we spend lots of our time writing about them and promoting them! We see alternative ‘trends’ come and go and meet lots of couples looking for something different. A phrase we hear a lot is “Nothing pink and fluffy”, And we get it! The idea is to stray from tradition. But what if ‘pink and fluffy’ could also be ‘powerful and quirky’? I love this whimsical wedding shoot because its feminine and classy, but also kooky and inventive. Creating an alternative look can still include frills & pastels!
This whimsical wedding is the brainchild of Victoria Taylor MUA & Marina Cox Hair. Photographed by Laura Beresford, the concept behind this shoot came from an admiration of Marie Antionette. Creating a vintage tea party, the team gave a vintage concept a modern interpretation.

How to achieve this look
modern touches
These brides are wearing traditional style wedding dressses with quirky touches (colour splashes & statement accessories). Luminous makeup and vintage style hair add to their 'whimsical' look.
flowers set the scene
The floral arrangements in this shoot really create the vibe and look opulent as well as pretty.
we love pastels
These pastel blues, pinks and purples are beautiful! Pastels don't always equal traditional.
whimsical brides- Unique Wedding Dresses
These three brides are show stopping! I love these unique wedding dresses and boots by After Elizabeth. The pastel colours are a magical way to bring a quirky touch to a classic bridal look. They’re rocking Georgian inspired updos by Marina Cox, with illuminating makeup by Victoria Taylor MUA. Sash & Veil provided some badass accessories for this whimsical wedding, including this awesome boat headpiece!
A dreamy Vintage Tea party
The Minories in Colchester was the perfect location for this whimsical wedding shoot. It’s a Tudor building with the folly in the garden dating back to the 1700s. Hire My Décor added some magic by hanging a chandelier and bringing the area to life. The extravagant floral displays by C Taylor’s Floristry make the whole scene look dreamy and indulgent. The pastel table display is embellished with gold accessories and stunning cakes by RT Cakes. The backdrop of trees makes it all look so picturesque- like the perfect vintage tea party!
