Halloween is an amazing time of year. It’s a time of dress up, fantasy, make-believe, and a moment when anyone can be anyone. We have an awesome, spooky shoot today from our Unconventional, Artisan X Photography. This Gothic Halloween wedding is creative and eccentric, telling a story of two alternative souls bound together in the dark. Read on for more badassery!
Contemporary Halloween wedding styling
The idea for this shoot was to combine the Halloween theme with an autumnal vibe, keeping a contemporary edge to contrast the historic wedding venue, Abbots Oak Leicester. The Wedding Alchemist styled the shoot with luxurious gold, moody tones, and natural materials to create a stunning outcome. The archway is a contemporary shape and used to highlight the feature fireplace. Caz specialises in ‘anything that’s a little bit different’ so this was right up her street!
The floral design, by Amafloria, was inspired by Victorian Gothic themes with a modern, geometric twist. The flower choices represent the traditionalism of an old Victorian garden using Roses, Lilies, and Carnations complemented by a range of traditional foliage. The modern/geometric edge was added with tropical blooms such as Palm, Cordyline and Leucadendron.
Black, corset wedding dress with the WOW factor
This Gothic Halloween Wedding look is STUNNING! Here’s what dress designer Scarlett Tayla told us:
“When Chris (Artisan X) posted on an alternative wedding suppliers page about a Gothic Halloween Wedding shoot, I knew I wanted to be involved. He was also looking for an alternative couple – I knew my son and his girlfriend would be ideal! When all was confirmed, I ordered a fabric I’d been eyeing up for some time (black on black Leopard print!). I made a corset for Rosie with a full skirt, high-low hem, and most importantly… pockets! I couldn’t decide whether to make a standard blazer or a tailcoat style for Tyler, so I let him decide – I think he picked right!”
Edgy gothic wedding look
MUA Alex Archer created a bold and beautiful, gothic makeup look. The green was decided beforehand, but coincidentally matched Rosie’s hair! We love when things magically fall into place!
Hairstylist Pin Up Curl went for a modern take on 50s waves that could be easily incorporated into an updo. She also created a badass mohawk for Tyler that worked so well with the two-tone colors of his hair and amazing skull face painting by Go Glitter.

Supernatural wedding shoes
We do love shoes here at UW! These Gothic Halloween wedding shoes by Lace & Love had us in awe! Here’s what they said:
“There is something mysterious, compelling, and even a bit haunting about this time of year which is why I love it so much. I knew the shoes needed to be something outside the norm, conjuring an almost supernatural look and feel. I knew that skulls would play as a main theme, showcasing on the heels. I tied these in with skull charms draping over the front and on the zip along with utilising black lace and green velvet. I wanted to keep them as stylish as possible so they can be worn all year round. Part of this is played out with the addition of a ribbon ankle tie to cast out the entrapment of Halloween and provide a more edgy feel that allows them to cross over into everyday life.”
