This alternative Viking wedding is truly BADASS. From an axe-wielding bride to skulls and mountains, this shoot will make you want to elope into the wilderness!
This concept for this shoot was (literally) dreamed up by Julie of The Red Rose Cake Company, coordinated by Bouquet & Bells, and photographed by Twigs Branch Photography. The team of awesome wedding suppliers wanted to represent the strength and resilience of couples and suppliers alike during the COVID pandemic, showcasing that despite the traumatic year we have all come together as a community and stayed positive.

how to recreate this alternative viking wedding
Keep it wild!
Embrace the wild with natural tones, wildflowers & wild hair! Maybe you could get creative with your makeup and play with dots and lines.
Find an epic landscape
This magestic Welsh scenery is perfect for this Viking wedding shoot! Find your own awesome landscape to bring your vision to life.
Skulls!
The ‘Viking’ edge is added to this shoot with the skull decor, fur and vintage props.
A viking power couple
This viking power couple look INCREDIBLE.
Harley wore a simple full length wedding dress in a neutral linen from. The hair and makeup by Cassie M Bridal was kept very rugged with a bold smokey eye and deep red lip. Black and white face paint was added for a tribal touch. Handpicked jewellery and accessories from Cassie MBridal Accessories together with a flower crown added a bit of glam and was a nod to the more modern-day wedding. An olive green cape also features in various shots. David wore a grey tweed suit with a linen top and both fashioned Doc Martens to complete the look.

viking wedding styling - a wild elopement
This Viking wedding shoot took place at Trevor Quarry in Llangollen, North Wales. The dramatic landscape made the perfect, movie-like backdrop! We kept the styling very minimal and wanted it to almost look like the bride and groom had scooped up some wildflowers themselves and eloped together, all loved up. Flowers at the Dutch Barn smashed it with these bohemian wedding flowers! Uniquely Styled provided the fur throws and vintage props (like the badass axe!) to give the shoot a raw, authentic look. The cake was a striking four-tier piece with leather-look detailing by The Red Rose Cake Company. It was mounted on a rock and a reindeer fur throw was added, finished beautifully with natural foliage and an animal skull.
