Geeky Festival Wedding - Personal Touches

This geeky festival wedding is full of fantastic personal touches. Here’s what Katy told us about how she and Gabe incorporated their values into their wedding day:

“We wanted everything about our day to be personal and represent us in one way or another. Our chief bridesmaid Cat was incredibly helpful in inspiring us with all of the geeky touches, from helping me choose a dress to show off my tattoo, all the way to creating all of the table settings and decor from scratch!

Other aspects were more personal. The flowers were all grown by my mum, Shirley, which she worked so hard on and they were stunning. The ivy was from my mother-in-law, Naomi, all grown in her garden. Gabe was able to ensure we included his late father by wearing his tie pin and having photos of him in the venue.”

Sustainable Weddings At The Wellbeing Farm

This power couple not only incorporated their love of all things geeky into their wedding, they also stayed true to their values in making their wedding as sustainable as possible:

“My wedding dress actually came from a charity shop – Brides of Bury. The proceeds from it went towards Bury Hospice which is a charity we care very much for. Keeping on this theme, we decided to go with sunflower seeds from the charity Mind as wedding favours. It was important to us to keep our day as eco-friendly and beneficial to others as we could. Part of this was even taking the leftover food home to feed guests!”

A Supplier Shout Out:

The Wellbeing Farm is a beautiful, sustainable wedding venue that really helped us with the wedding planning. Not many people can say they had llamas at their wedding! They helped us achieve the wedding of our dreams and were always reassuring us that they would solve any problem that arose.”

A Geeky Festival Wedding Ceremony

Katy continued to tell us about her geeky festival wedding ceremony:

“The wedding ceremony was definitely my favourite part of the day. The atmosphere was beautiful. We had a harpist (Susan Lambert) playing music from some of our favourite games and films. She even played the Zelda theme as I walked down the aisle. Watching my three boys set off and hearing the reactions as they trundled down the aisle together was just magical. It was nerve-wracking but standing up there in front of everyone with Gabe and my boys, just celebrating our lives together, was perfect. Everybody looked so vibrant and happy and it’s something I’ll never forget.”

A Supplier Shout Out:

Vicky Dubois Photography captured our day awesomely. The memories that she recorded throughout the day were just perfect, she really managed to capture the quirkiness of the whole wedding. All of our family and friends thought she was a long-time friend of ours as she fit in with everyone so well!”

Katy Says Relax!

We asked Katy if she has any advice for other couples on their wedding planning journey:

“If I was giving advice to another couple planning their big day,  I would say to relax, have fun and go with the flow! I would quite often take that approach and it turned out to be one of the best days of my life!”
