Unconventional Wedding

Cat & Tony’s Industrial Railway Wedding

We have an awesome real wedding for you today! This one’s an industrial railway wedding, full of personality and sentiment. Cat and Tony got married at The National Railway Museum due to their shared love of the place and Tony’s career in the railway industry. The couple said:

“We wanted something industrial, nostalgic and different.  This is the only venue which we both felt excited about for ‘us’, rather than for the sake of impressing others.”

These photos, by Vicki Clayson Photography, capture the couple brilliantly. From the candid moments to the fun photoshoot, these shots are brilliant because they have so much feeling in them!

Top tips to achieve this style

sentiment

Choose a wedding venue that means a lot to you. You can also add personal touches to any venue to make it unique to you.

minimal decoraion

In an industrial setting like this, there are already so many unique features that you may not need additional decorations.

industrial railway wedding- a sentimental venue

The National Railway Museum is such a unique wedding venue that also means a lot to the couple. The ceremony and reception were held in the Station Hall, which features the museum’s famous royal carriages. Once the sun goes down, the whole area looks like a classic train station, even down to the homely lighting. Once the museum is closed, the couple have a unique opportunity to have their portraits taken in the Great Hall, which holds some of the greatest achievements in railway history (including Tony’s favourite, The Mallard). There’s even the opportunity to board some of the trains. Having the whole space to yourself feels very ‘Night at the Museum’. Vicki Clayson perfectly captured this industrial railway wedding, finding all sorts of quirky photo opportunities!

DIY Personal Touches

This industrial railway wedding was full of nostalgia, emotion and creativity. Cat crocheted all her flowers, which were used for buttonholes, bouquets and centrepieces! You can find her crochet creations here! The artwork and design for the wedding were created by Tony! What a crafty couple. The red, white and navy colour scheme matches the style of the venue brilliantly. The venue is already so exciting, meaning very little decoration is needed!
