Here’s what Liz told us about her and Dave’s colourful industrial wedding:
“After being together for 10 years and having a 6 year old son, we wanted a stress free and happy wedding surrounded by our closest friends and family. We wanted to embrace bold and bright colours, and incorporate our own home aesthetic to create a joyful weekend to share with our nearest and dearest.
We were officially married on Friday at Sheffield Town Hall, with an intimate guestlist of around 15 close friends and family followed by a casual dinner.
On Saturday we hosted a larger guestlist for an intimate ceremony with one of our best friends acting as the celebrant, before having an amazing greek feast. The evening finished with a disco and soul party with drinks, dancing and celebration.”

Liz continued to tell us about her DIY wedding styling:
“Our wedding venue in Sheffield, 99 Mary Street, had a wonderful industrial vibe that we loved, so homemade paper streamer ceiling hangers were the only decorations we brought. We used candles in recycled jars and bought houseplants for the aisle decorations / table decorations so that we could keep them in our house afterwards.
The floral decorations were grown by Dave’s wonderful mum, Lorraine. My bouquet, my best woman’s flowers and the boy’s button holes were made by a fabulous local florist Of The Wild and they were so incredibly beautiful!
The Greek food by Greedy Greek Deli was incredible and the wedding cakes were also made by my mother in law!”

wedding dress
How incredible is Liz’s wedding dress? She told us all about it:
“I made my own colourful wedding dress – I have been an amateur sewist for a few years and wanted to give myself the challenge of creating my own unique dress. After months of deliberating on the best (and most colourful!) fabric choices, of course I was still sewing the week before!”
wedding planning
tips
We asked Liz and Dave about the planning process behind their colourful industrial wedding. They gave some pretty great advice about prioritising and delegating!
“For us, it was important to decide together on what were the important elements that we wanted to focus most of our attention on. These were the venue, the catering, the photographer, the dress and the DJ. With these things in mind, we were able to worry less about other elements. We decided that if the food was delicious, people would focus less on whether we had fancy napkins or table dressings. We knew that if the venue was nice and intimate then we wouldn’t have to spend a lot of time and money on decorating a larger space.
Working with friends and family in the lead up to help with decorations, cakes and other smaller elements was also important as it allowed them to be part of the celebrations and ensured that everything that surrounded us on the day was produced by the most special people in our lives.”
Supplier Love
“Our photographer Isabelle Biggs Photography was amazing! She made us all feel so easy and the photographs are just stunning.
99 Mary Street were also incredible! Having been let down by our original venue, when we met Nik and Jon we instantly knew that they understood what we wanted and were organised and supportive all the way through the process. The perfect intimate wedding venue in Sheffield.”
