We LOVE a good festival here at Unconventional Wedding. We also, if you hadn’t guessed, love a good wedding. This combination of the two is making us all excited for summer! Snapped by Joelle Poulos Wedding Photography, this free spirited festival wedding looks like a bohemian dream!
Since we’ve been very busy organising our very own ‘Unconventional Wedding Festival’ (coming to Leicestershire in May!), we thought this would be the perfect blog to share with you…

How to Create Your Own Festival Wedding:
MAKE IT REALISTIC
If you’re going to have a festival wedding, you may as well go all out! Excite your guests with ‘tickets’ as invites, and wristbands on arrival!
SIMPLE DECORATION
Keep the decorations simple, and don’t be afraid to hand-make things like signs and bunting- it all adds to the festival feel.
The Festival Field
On arrival, guests received a ‘WEDFEST’ wrist band and were ushered to the glamping area and main tipi. The field was scattered with colourful flags, handmade signs and haybales. The wildflowers and wellies really set the scene, and the rainbow bunting was perfect for the cheerful vibe.

Festival Food
A BBQ and an ice cream cart… What perfect festival food! The couple showed how wedding food doesn’t always have to be a sit down, three course meal and that a relaxed ‘help yourself’ attitude can be just as great. This is so easy to achieve, whether you self-cater or hire a food van. Check out our directory here if you’re looking to do something similar!

Wedding Wildflowers
This bride is rocking a gorgeous wedding flower crown, in bright colours that match the wedding bouquet. She’s nailed the boho-chic look and brings elegance to the festival vibe. There are so many gorgeous flowers: tucked in wellies, on the cake, draped around signs and on the table- such simple yet effective decoration. The bench tables with flowers running through the middle look stunning-Sometimes flowers are the only decoration you need!

Quirky wedding Touches.... And Lots Of Gin!
Jo & Matthew added so many quirky touches that made the day extra special. For example, the wedding favours were tiny bottles of sloe gin and the seating plan was a decorated ladder, with the names hung around gin bottles. Guests could have their faces painted, or their beards ‘glittered’! It’s things like these that all add up to a memorable day for wedding guests, that showcases your personalities too.
What an awesome wedding! The couple brought their love of festivals to their big day, and pulled it off amazingly! Thanks again to Joelle Poulos Photography for sending these great pictures in.

PS! Speaking of wedding Festivals...
Since we’re on the topic of weddings and festivals, we thought this would be a good place to plug The Unconventional Wedding Festival!
Set in the stunning grounds of Stanford Hall, you can walk around our eight themed Zones, experiencing different styles of wedding and soaking up the ideas.
You will not only walk away with a whole heap of inspiration but will also have the opportunity to connect with suppliers who can bring your dreams to life, no matter how big or wild they are, and help you create a wedding that truly reflects your personality.
More information for both couples and suppliers here!
