intimate
wedding day
Here’s what Shannon told us about her and Mark’s Gothic micro wedding:
“Due to Covid, our wedding day wasn’t quite what we originally planned. We were going to have our wedding and reception with about 130 guests but with border closures and lockdowns always looming, we completely rearranged our day.
Instead of postponing our wedding, we decided to go ahead with the day with just our parents and daughter present.
Just after we signed our paperwork, it was announced that our state was going into a strict lockdown later that day but we were lucky to have a grace period and continue with our plans. We had some local family and friends come and celebrate with us which was amazing.”

wedding styling
We love this couple’s chilled out and self assured attitude towards their big day. Their styling was effortlessly beautiful, perfectly representing their personalities. Shannon continued:
“The inspiration for our gothic micro wedding purely came from our own personal style and taste. Because of this, It wasn’t hard to style and it all fell into place quite easily.
A lot of what I had originally organised wasn’t used as we didn’t have our reception as planned. Our venue also changed with our plans so the backdrop was a lot different to what I had pictured, but it was stunning regardless. The venue was an old church which has now been converted into accommodation. The white marble with all of our black looked so beautiful.”
a black dress for a
gothic micro wedding
This black wedding dress is an absolute show-stopper! Shannon brought herself a black dress as a base and then altered it to make it her own with the help of a local dressmaker who added the chains across the back.
Shannon and Mark’s daughter is absolutely rocking the gothic bridesmaid look! She chose the look herself, drawing inspiration from Pinterest. Shannon found a black tutu on Etsy and the look revolved around that. Their daughter had her own ring and some red roses to symbolise her inclusion in the marriage.
wedding photos
& tattoos
Shannon wanted some incredible wedding photos, but didn’t want to spend hours on her wedding day having them taken. So, her and Mark had a photoshoot the day before the wedding which resulted in some gorgeous images by Martika Harrison Images.
They also took their photographer on a trip with them to mark their day with something a little more permanent! We love the photos of the couple getting wedding tattoos – what an epic way to mark your wedding day.
