Looking for something a little different for your big day? How about a Steampunk wedding? We have a beauty for you today, sent to us by Foxglove & Black. This shoot celebrates the uniqueness of the Steampunk wedding style, featuring quirky yet sophisticated detailing. The aim was to prove that themed weddings don’t have to look tacky or cliched, but instead can be stylish and be extra personal to the couple. Check out these photos by Vicki Clayson Photography for the ultimate alternative wedding inspiration!

How To Get This Look:
Think cogs - and lots of them!
Industrial elements such as cogs & gears are a key design feature when it comes to the Steampunk style. Whether used subtly as place card holders or big and bold for your ceremony stand, they will be sure to shout your theme and get everyone talking about your wedding!
Be dramatic with your wedding attire!
Steampunk is all about being theatrical, so be bold and own the style. Think of exaggerated Victorian dresses and corsets, top hats, or for a touch of macabre - a plague mask! Anything goes.
Mix Textures
Use a variety of materials to reflect the different elements of the Steampunk style. Lace & ruffles shout the Victorian period, whilst copper & metal gives a feel of the industrial.
What Is A Steampunk Wedding?
Becky from Foxglove & Black explains what the ‘Steampunk’ style entails:
“The Steampunk style is an eclectic mix of industrial, the Victorian era, and science fiction. It has a nostalgic feel with its elaborate Victorian costumes with lots of theatrical detailing such as top hats and goggles. It is also very industrial with metallic tones, cogs, gears and copper piping being common features.
This movement has become a style in its own right and for many, it is a way of life. It has a playful feel to it but at the same time is refined & elegant due to the Victorian influences. Whether you want just subtle hints of this style or want to go big & bold, it really is such a fun theme to work with and will be sure to grab attention on your wedding day!”

Steampunk Wedding Styling At The Old Cow Shed
The Old Cow Shed was the perfect venue for this shoot with its bare brick walls working perfectly for the industrial theme. It’s a great blank canvas venue with heaps of quirky features, making for great photos.
For the styling, Foxglove & Black incorporated items such as copper pipe candlesticks, bronze industrial style candle holders and lightbulbs to create a decorative and eclectic vibe. To accentuate the industrial feel, the florals were perfectly matched with striking red roses amongst black feathers, foliage, cogs and wire spirals.
The colour palette of red, black and copper lent itself to other styling elements such as the beautiful rust coloured table linens, provided by Mae Dae Weddings and the grunge-style stationery suite, also by Foxglove & Black.
All of this detailing was brilliantly captured by Vicki Clayson Photography. She really caught the mood of the shoot, using the lighting to her advantage.

Eclectic Wedding Wear For Alternative Couples
Models Rosie & Tyler look friggin’ badass! Here’s what Becky told us about this Steampunk wedding wear:
“Zoé from Scarlet Tayla was the obvious choice to create the wedding wear, as her work is totally original and always fits the theme amazingly! For our ‘bride’ she created a leather & lace waspie corset; bolero jacket and a long bustled train, in a mix of bronze & copper tones. Its unique design was complemented by the beautiful lace-up boots by House Of Elliot. A stunning statement necklace was made by CRZyBest, alongside a collection of rings; bangles; pins, and hair accessories which really completed the look. As the look was so dramatic, a strong makeup design was applied by Natalie Flewitt MUA, featuring bold eyes and a statement red lip. A funky hairstyle was created by Moira Borg, who totally grasped the theme and made it her own.”

Cogs & Gears - The Beautiful Details…
Can we talk about this CAKE?! Look at this gorgeous creation by Hayley Stockwell Cake Design! The cog detailing and copper piping icing looked great sitting on the industrial style cake stand made by Under Pressure Eventz. The cog and gear theme was continued throughout the styling and added to the wedding favours by The Biscuit Tin.

A Steampunk Wedding Ceremony
We’re loving this Steampunk wedding ceremony set up. The brick wall and black curtains are brought to life with the edgy floral arrangements and floor candles. The ceremony backdrop is made from cogs by Under Pressure Eventz, bringing the Steampunk feel.
Velvet Rose Ceremonies conducted the mock wedding ceremony in epic Steampunk attire! Finding a celebrant that’s willing to dress to match your theme is a brilliant way to tie your theme into your ceremony.
