summer 70s
wedding
Imagine a summer afternoon in the 1970s. You’ve gathered your friends in a sunshiney beer garden, and they’re witnessing you tie the knot with an intimate wedding ceremony. The vibe is relaxed, peaceful and bohemian.
This is exactly the image York Wedding Suppliers wanted to conjure up when planning this Summer 70s Wedding shoot! Their supplier collective worked together to create a bohemian dream for model couple Chris and John.

70s wedding inspiration
Here’s what Elizabeth from Bridal Reloved York Told us about this 70s wedding shoot:
“For our styled shoot, we wanted a mature couple because they are often underrepresented in the wedding world, even though many are getting married, often for the first time! We were inspired by John’s original corduroy suit from the 70s and felt it would be great to capture a relaxed hippie vibe reminiscent of Indian summers and the late 60s and early 70s fashion.
The chosen colors were orange, yellow, brown, and purple. The ceremony was held outdoors in the beer garden of The Mended Drum, and guests were seated on cushions. The overall atmosphere was very relaxed and fun.”

Bohemian Wedding Flowers
Lottie Roberts Flowers provided the colourful bridal bouquet and venue flowers for this 70s wedding shoot, keeping to the yellow, orange and purple colour scheme.

70s Wedding Style
Here’s what Elizabeth from Bridal Reloved York Told us about this 70s wedding shoot:
“Looking back on the vivid imagery of the late 60s and 70s, I’ve always admired the extravagant psychedelic mix of colours and patterns. The essence of the 70s is perfectly captured in the blend of orange, yellow, brown, and purple. The addition of purple came as a delightful surprise after Kelly, our jewellery expert, introduced an authentic 70s throw in that shade, which coincidentally matched the purple wisteria flowers I had brought to hang, enhancing the overall aesthetic.
The music and album covers of the 70s played a significant role in shaping our design, along with nostalgic memories of 70s pub parties, characterised by ashtrays, diverse seating, and drinks with straws.
The stunning 70s Rolls Royce completed the scene, and we were excited to discover that the village of Huby still boasts a traditional telephone box.”
