how to rock an Addams Family Wedding
SUBTLE TOUCHES
If you’re recreating or paying homage to a cult classic, it’ll be the small details that bring the vision to life.
PUT YOUR OWN SPIN ON IT
Your wedding is about YOU! Enhance your wedding theme by adding your own personal touches.
EMBRACE THE DARKNESS
You might be surprised that some amazing wedding photography can be made after the sun goes down. Check out the photos by the graveyard and the chapel ruins. Your photographer will be excited to play with light!
creating an addams family wedding
The team took inspiration from the Charles Addams original storyline. From a cartoon strip all the way up to the 90’s cult classic films ‘The Addams Family’, they brought to life the romantically macabre wedding of Gomez & Morticia.
Ettington Park Hotel, the real-life location of the 60’s film ‘The Haunting’ was the perfect location for this Addams Family wedding. With its daunting architecture, chapel ruins and even some sporadic gravestones, it would have been the perfect alternative wedding venue had Gomez & Morticia got married in the 21st Century.
The tablescape was brought to life by Revelry Events with subtle hints of spookiness, as per the brief. We are LOVING the white pumpkins and crystals from Necromantic – these are brilliant wedding favours and styling items!
It can be tough to bring macabre to life with florals, but Iris & Co designed the most beautiful, unique wedding flowers that perfectly enhance the theme. Morticia was a keen gardener (or not as she likes cutting off rose heads!) and we reckon she’d have loved this.

Gothic CHIC, Not gothic SH*t!
When rocking a Halloween wedding theme like this one, it can be easy to lose the stylish aspect among all the spookiness. We’re not going for tacky here… we want elegance, darling! By keeping your references subtle, you can keep it ‘gothic chic’.
Here’s what Lex Fleming told us about building this gothic wedding theme:
“I wanted there to be lots of very subtle nods to The Addams Family. At the time, Wilderness Prop Hire was ran by my legendary parents. Many evenings were spent thinking up unusual props and touches. They helped bring to life the Gravestone mirror behind the urn cake. “We gladly feast on those that would subdue us” is the English translation of The Addam’s family Latin motto.”
Peachwolfe designed this Addams Family wedding stationery set – the coffin menu cards were a brilliant, unique touch. If you look closely, you’ll even see what the Addams’ served their guests!
Check out this EPIC urn wedding cake by Bronya DCC – complete with red velvet in true gothic style. We thought this was a real urn!

Addams Family Wedding Wear For The Gothic Couple
Let’s talk about this alternative wedding wear!
This incredible black wedding dress was created by Felicity Westmacott and it is SO Morticia! Taking inspiration from Morticia’s everyday outfit consisting of an ultra-tight black maxi dress, the team borrowed touches from Angelica Huston’s 90’s version of Morticia Addams and went to town. Felicity added some incredible style to her wedding gown with sheer fabric and detailing. Notice how the crystal draping at the back subtly hints at a pentagram! The final touches included headpieces from The Lucky Sixpence and rings from Bloody Mary Metal.
Rachel from Make-up in Orangeries had the task of transforming real-life couple Mason & Megan into Morticia & Gomez Addams. We think it’s fair to say she smashed it!
