Fighting off the January blues? Us too! We have a colourful & cheery wedding theme guaranteed to brighten up any dreary day. This bright festival wedding shoot was created by Linzi from ‘that black & white cat weddings‘ and captured by Kirsty Rockett Photography at Meadow Vale Weddings near Nottingham. It’s super fun and funky, featuring a load of our awesome Unconventionals! Check it out for vibrant & colourful festival vibes…

Bright Festival Wedding Styling - Flamingos & Colours!
Meadow Vale Weddings is an outdoor wedding venue set in the heart of the Nottingham countryside. It was the perfect countryside backdrop for the modern white stretch tent from Tentickle Stretch Tents. Moira from the venue also created 100s of colourful origami birds to provide a bespoke DIY photobooth backdrop!
The bright festival wedding theme was pulled together by wedding planner Linzi from that black & white cat weddings who, as well as planning outdoor weddings, also offers wedding design! The bold and colourful set up includes their signature ribbon backdrop with bright pink, purple, yellows and oranges – perfect for indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies (weather permitting!). It can also double up as an DIY photobooth, top table backdrop or to create a groovy festival dancefloor. The shoot also incorporated a number of fun elements such as the pink flamingoes & colour coordinated smoke bombs. Can’t go wrong with a bit of flamingo!
The tablescapes featured hand-dyed napkins, coloured glassware and multi-coloured vases all finished off with matching ribbons and fruit! The layout is perfectly complimented by colourful wedding stationery from Bluebell Press.
Our Favourite Part… Wedding Cake!
This bright festival wedding cake is a show stopper! Created by Sophie from Big Day Blooms and Cakes, here’s what she told us:
“This wedding cake was designed to have a real wow factor and compliment the bold look of the day. I was very playful in my design. I incorporated the on-trend wafer paper flares and made outsize paper confetti. This couple, in my mind, would have a rainbow of biodegradable paper dots thrown over them after their ceremony and the cake would subtly match this!
The whole cake was designed around the vivid pink translucent plates used to separate each layer. I wanted to create a slightly retro-chic feel to enhance the festival settings, so I chose to employ the bold orange accentuated with vivid fuchsia as my main colourway. To add to this dynamic, I used the wafer paper to create some flowers that would happily feature on a psychedelic floral fabric of the late 60s.”
Bright Festival Wedding Flowers - Go Bold!
The multi-talented Sophie from Big Day Blooms And Cakes also provided the colourful wedding flowers for this bright festival wedding shoot! She used bright blooms to show that even with an October wedding, you can keep those summery colours! The flowers were largely UK grown – perfect for the boho ‘homegrown’ vibe and for the eco-conscious couple (keeping that carbon footprint down!). The hand-tied bouquet is casually bunched to match the free-spirited vibe of the festival bride. The flowers added to the ceremony and cake backdrop are a great example of making a floral impact on a budget.
Sophie went all out for the table flowers – Why go for full-on colour and but then hold back on volume?! The multi-coloured vases were filled with round large-headed, statement flowers that are both eye-catching and texturally rich. No foliage here – it was ALL about the colour!
A relaxed ceremony for a Bright Festival Wedding
One of our favourite touches from the overall wedding design is the chairs which were used for the wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast. We love a bit of multi tasking! White wooden chairs are perfect for adding matching hanging ribbons and flower posies. In this bright festival wedding shoot, all the chairs are decorated, but if you are looking for a cost-saving tip, you can always decorate only the chairs on the edge of your aisle.
This mock wedding ceremony was brilliantly led by humanist celebrant Louise of Kick-Ass Gatherings, dressed in her rainbow dress, to match the theme!
A Festival Wedding Couple
Leah is rocking an ivory tulle wedding dress from Ivory White Bridal Boutique, embellished with star details! We love a celestial bridal look! Hairstylist Moira Borg created a bohemian updo with real flowers from the bouquets, and Hannah Finn created a glowing bridal makeup look. The look is completed with hand-painted Dr Martens by Inanna Bespoke Shoes – perfect for dancing around a festival field!
Toby is kitted out in grooms wear by Coneys. Oh, and let’s not forget the real star of the show – Baby Jasmine! She’s the perfect flower girl in her T For Tutu bridesmaids dress. How adorable!
