Bright Carnival Wedding
with Playful Details

Emily from Heart E Designs often describes stationery as “the glue that holds everything together” and this bright carnival wedding inspired shoot at Weddings at Quex was built around that idea.

Starting with a collection of playful stationery designs, including ticket-style invitations, vow booklets, menus and colourful signage, the concept grew into something bold, bright and full of personality. Hot pink, red and striped details ran throughout the shoot, bringing a nod to festivals, funfairs and the seaside to the Kent coast.

Glittering make-up, balloons, playful styling and even Skye the Cockapoo all became part of the day.

Take a look at how this team of creatives brought the concept to life.

Wedding Stationery & Signage

Heart E Designs used hot pink, red and striped details across all the stationery. From the ticket-style invitations, cocktail cards, table numbers and place setting favour bags, stationery became a key part of the styling.

Carnival Inspired Table Styling

All in One Events styled the tables with pink tapered candles and balloon centrepieces made from layered pink and red balloons with ribbons falling from above.

White crockery and gold cutlery kept the tables feeling like a wedding breakfast, while popcorn boxes and heart-shaped sunglasses brought in the carnival influence.

Bright Wedding Flowers

Foxgloves of Birchington created floral designs using pink, orange and yellow tones. The bouquet kept a compact rounded shape with ribbons falling from the stems, while a larger arrangement framed the base of the seating plan.

Cakes by Petula designed a smooth white tiered cake finished with pink and red flowers and ribbons across the top tiers. Displayed on a red table runner and surrounded by striped popcorn boxes, it sat naturally amongst the rest of the carnival wedding styling.

Colourful Fashion, Hair & Makeup

Playful Wedding Dress

Novo Bridal provided  Nicola’s structured A-line gown with a plunging neckline and feathered shoulders that moved as she walked. The smooth satin skirt kept the focus on the shape of the dress and the movement created by the feathers.

A drop pendant necklace and coordinating earrings from Artisan Handmade Jewellers completed the look, complementing the shape of the gown.

Wedding Party Dresses

Novo Bridal also dressed Alicia and  Dulcie in contrasting red and butter yellow gowns to tie into the theme. The red dress featured floral appliqué across the bodice with a soft tulle skirt, while the yellow dress kept a cleaner silhouette with a corset-style bodice and lace-up back.

Wedding Hair, Makeup & Nails

Claire Burchell HMUA who styled Nicola’s hair and makeup created a soft updo, leaving curled pieces loose around the face. The make-up stayed natural and glowing, finished with pale pink butterfly glitter around the eyes.

For Alicia and Dulcie , Versastyle by Laura created high buns with plaits running through the back. Kerry Ann Wells MUA kept the make-up soft, adding pearls around the eyes and touches of colour to tie in with the dresses.

Nails by Sophies Cosy Corner added a finished polish to the looks. Nicola’s nails featured a pale pink ombré finish with delicate white flowers, while Alicia and Dulcie’s coordinated with pale pink or cream nails finished with small floral details.

Relaxed Wedding Styling for Brian

Brian’s styling kept things more relaxed. Dark trousers, braces and an open-neck white shirt balanced the brighter details running through the rest of the shoot, with his buttonhole pinned directly onto the braces.

A playful wedding ceremony

The ceremony took place outside beneath Weddings at Quex Victorian gazebo, surrounded by open parkland and trees.

Leigh The Celebrant led the ceremony, while Heart E Designs continued the playful stationery through the vow booklets with the same bold pink, red and yellow colour palette seen throughout the shoot.

Rings by Artisan Handmade Jewellers included a diamond set band with a pink-purple stone in a rub over setting for Nicola, paired with Brian’s plain gold band.

Here Comes the Hound ensured Skye the Cockapoo was very much part of the day too. She wore a bandana reading “My Humans Are Getting Married” during the outdoor portraits.

Interactive Wedding Details

Heart E Designs continued the playful details through guest bingo cards placed across the tables and a first dance sweepstake board displayed beside the cake.

Cocktail cards titled “Pick Your Poison” followed the same bold pink and red styling with illustrated drinks across the menus.

Elsewhere, playful props and details ran throughout the shoot. Alicia and Dulcie held cards reading “Single Pringle” and “I Kissed Him First”, while Nicola and Brian were photographed beneath the gazebo wearing red noses and holding an oversized balloon.

Emily’s Lollies also created round red lollies with gold lettering reading “Bride” and “Groom”, adding another playful detail to the outdoor portraits.
