colourful boho
wedding

On a warm summer’s day in July, a small team of wedding professionals created wedding magic at Higher Holcombe in Devon. This colourful boho wedding is bold and bright, with a big focus on sustainability.

The initial concept and mood board came from Laura of Freeformimages Photography, working with Joanna at Higher Holcombe and George from Hestia and Iris Ceremonies. Sara from Peony & Lace Weddings joined the team to bring the vision to life.

outdoor
wedding ceremony

Higher Holcombe, an old dairy farm, is a rustic barn and woodland wedding venue nestled in the Devon countryside. With 30 acres of meadows and glades, the team were spoilt for choice as to where to host the ceremony, conducted by George at Hestia and Iris Ceremonies. They chose the secluded Silver Birch Church, with rows of silver birch trees creating natural aisles. What a perfect backdrop to get married!

The whole day was captured by Freeformimages Photography. Laura’s relaxed, friendly manner ensured that she not only got those picture-perfect moments but that the couple were at complete ease in front of the camera.

wedding FLOWERS

Bude Blooms provided the floral decor for the day. An eco florist and flower grower, Cassie used brightly coloured flowers that she grew in her field, ensuring that the remit of being sustainable was adhered to. The floral arch was used for both the ceremony and to decorate the campervan photobooth and eco glitter bar provided by Vintage Camper Booths.

A second installation of hanging flowers and brightly coloured ribbon was also used over the table setting and as part of the ceremony backdrop. The reuse of the flowers in various locations shows that with a bit of planning, flowers can be reused from the ceremony to the reception as well as providing decor for other elements of the day. The petals from many of the flowers were used by Joanna at Higher Holcombe to make confetti.

The tablescape, styled by Peony & Lace Weddings, featured coloured glassware, brightly coloured napkins in orange and pink, a bright blue table runner and a mix of brightly coloured candles.

The stationery suite was provided by sustainable stationery designer Laura Likes. Laura took the colourful floral elements of the shoot and designed the stationery to match.

The three-tier wedding cake by Peboryon was a mix of pink and blue colours, featuring a splatter effect, gold detailing and hand-crafted sugar flowers.

bohemian
wedding wear

For this colourful boho wedding shoot, the couple wore outfits from their real wedding a few months prior. The Bex’s dress was by Madison James from La Boutique in Exeter and Oliver’s suit was from Ted Baker. Zoe of Makeup by Zoe created a natural look on Bex with pops of pink lipstick and eyeshadow for the colour. Kyrelle from Devon Wedding Hair pulled Bex’s gorgeous curls into a loose, boho bun with loose curls and topped it off with a colourful flower crown created by Bude Blooms.

Local Cornish jeweller, Sarah-Jane of Bish Bosh Becca created all the jewellery for bride Bex and for George the celebrant. Bex wore large hoop earrings with green and pink jewels and a green jewelled necklace with the word ‘Wow’. George wore a layered pearl necklace.
