Elegant, moody and dramatic, this gothic wedding inspiration is giving us ‘dark fairy-tale’ vibes and we’re loving it. The shoot features a real couple of alternatives, Jamie and Mark, who recently got married! Jamie is rocking her own wedding dress which she made herself! She also designs awesome bespoke shoes, modelled by her and her husband in the shoot. Fly On The Wall Photography brilliantly captured the mood, and you can feel the couple’s love through the photos! One of the many great things about this shoot is that everything is hand made by a team of small businesses! You know we love the independent businesses here at UW. Keep reading, be inspired!

Top tips to achieve this gothic wedding look
make the venue your own

combine influences
This gothic wedding has a magical, fairytale vibe to it. Don't me afraid to mix and match styles to create your perfect place.
gothic wedding inspiration- fairytale styling
Aston Hill Barns has been transformed into a moody yet romantic wedding scene, full of imagination. Bethan from Finishing Flourishes was the florist and stylist behind this gothic wedding inspiration. She told us about her inspirations:
“I love creating something a little bit different and I found myself being drawn towards a dark woodland sort of feel. By using moss logs, twigs and trees I wanted to create the feeling that things were growing and decomposing around the venue. I drew inspiration from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, in particular Snow White, with subtle nods to this in the styling.
I wanted to incorporate Jamie’s fabulous red hair colour into the styling to bring the look together. With the wedding flowers, I used combinations of high quality artificial alongside fresh (I’m finding this is becoming quite popular with couples wanting big impact but, on a budget). I also knew I wanted to use CRZyBest’s exquisite carved sculptures from the word go, tucking the delicate leaves, butterflies and hand carved bird skulls into the moss.”
All of these elements created a dreamy wedding ceremony with soft flowing fabrics and candles, which worked perfectly for the candle ritual conducted by Infinite Ceremonies By Jas. The gothic edge was maintained with hanging gold birdcages and twinkling twig trees.

a subtly gothic wedding look
Jamie hand-made her wedding dress, and isn’t it stunning! Mazz Loxton created a subtly Gothic wedding look with Jamie’s hair and makeup, and gave us this insight:
“With Jaimie’s hair I wanted to create something edgy, but elegant that wouldn’t draw attention away from her beautiful dress. I also wanted to draw attention to her gorgeous eyes without overpowering them. We used burgundy tones with a high contrast smokey eye to keep everything in tune with the rest of the styling. I added a deeper lip in the same tones to tie everything together, whilst keeping the skin natural so you can see Jamie’s freckles.”
The talented bride, owner of Shoes For You By Red, painted her wedding shoes! She’s also rocking a bespoke, black, floor length wedding veil by Mini Quinni, embellished with flowers around the hem. To finish off the Gothic bridal look, Jamie’s wearing CRZyBest jewellery that matches the tiny sculptures from the bouquet. This Gothic wedding inspiration is bursting with creativity!
