We’re celebrating movie themed weddings here on Unconventional Wedding this week so how about a Labyrinth wedding? When I was growing up one of the major movies of the time, which I remember watching over and over again, was Labyrinth. Featuring the iconic David Bowie, this fantasy movie follows what happens to Sarah after she wishes her half brother to be taken away by goblins.
So imagine my excitement when the pictures of Zoe and Ste’s Labyrinth themed wedding day from Natasha at Honeydew Moments popped up my Facebook feed. I knew we just had to feature it here on Unconventional Wedding. And, by chance, it fits perfectly into our movie themed wedding week!
Zoe and Ste tied the knot at BoHo Cornwall, the perfect country house, elopment, wedding venue by the sea. The photos are dramatic, rich and romantic. We totally LOVE the dramatic photos when they headed down to the Cornwall Coast in the blustery weather wearing their masquerade masks.
We asked them how they’d sum up their wedding day in 5 words …
“A whimsical adventure of creativity”
A Labyrinth wedding - Wedding Ceremony details
Zoe and Ste’s wedding day was inspired by their joint favourite movie of all time!
“We realised a modern day wedding just wasn’t for us. We wanted to be creatively free without judgement and have a day where it was solely us… The elements of old-time fairy tale with an artistic flair in the movie definitely inspired us to incorporate that into our wedding day.”
Our favourite detail? We LOVE the appearance by the Goblin King (David Bowie) in the lantern. The romantic candle lit fireplace for the wedding ceremony. And of course, the Labyrinth book as the couple signed their wedding certificate in front of their wedding guests. The perfect themed elopment wedding with an extra bit of magic on top.
Dramatic wedding Photos by the Sea
If you are planning your own dramatic wedding photos by the sea? Check out the top advice from photographer Natasha from Honeydew Moments.
“If you’re keen to have some beach or sea portraits on your wedding day, plan it into the timeline. You’ll want to give yourselves at least an hour to get down to the beach, shoot those epic photos and get back to your wedding and guests.
The sea is unpredictable so you’ll need to check the tide times to make the most of it and also to stay safe. If you want to embrace it all and get in the sea, prepared for it to be cold! It is the UK after all. Bring a towel, spare socks and shoes but most importantly – have fun! How often do you get to hold your new husband/wife in pure romantic passion as the waves crash around you!”
How to nail this truly romantic and creative wedding look inspired by your favourite movie?
“Be as creative as you can. Take your favourite elements and fuse them into your day. Don’t fear judgement just be yourselves because at the end of the day that’s why you both love each other!!”
And the best advice from Zoe and Ste from their Labyrinth wedding day –
“… support smaller businesses as they always have something unique in their shops.”
