marquee wedding

Are you a nearly-wed looking to break away from tradition and craft a wedding that’s uniquely you? For their DIY marquee wedding, Lucy and Mickey embraced personal touches, pets, and a whole lot of pampas to create a day that was undeniably theirs. Here’s a glimpse into their alternative wedding extravaganza that was filled with love, laughter, and a dash of football fandom.

Lucy’s vision for her DIY marquee wedding consisted of pets, pampas and personal touches. Here’s what she told us about her inspiration:

“The venue was a dry hire so everything you see is bought, hired or made by us. There were subtle personal touches dotted around throughout the day, including Mickey’s love for Only Fools & Horses, my love for Disney, our shared love of football and our animals.”

WEDDING DECOR

Pampas and eucalyptus took center stage in the decor, perfectly complementing the boho rustic theme. To bring their vision to life, Lucy and Mickey opted for a dry-hire venue, Cheswell Grange, which served as an inspiration in itself.

They enlisted the help of Tipples Catering Hire for tables, chairs, barrels, and glasses for the marquee. Their table settings exuded boho charm, while their seating plan and table names paid homage to their football passion.

The talented Kelly from Belle Bouquets crafted a stunning pampas cloud centerpiece, and the couple had collected pampas themselves over the years. They also brought dried flower arrangements from Ivy Nook to complete the styling.

UNIQUE
WEDDING ENTERTAINMENT

For their DIY marquee wedding, Lucy and Mickey left no stone unturned when it came to keeping their guests entertained.

Instead of traditional wedding photos, they hosted a lively ’round robin’ session to the tune of “Cotton Eyed Joe.” What a fun way for guests to capture quick-fire moments with the couple!

To unite both sides of the family, they made an array of fun garden games, from Kerplunk to personalised ‘Guest Guess Who.’ The little ones were not forgotten, thanks to Happy Hippi Tent Hire, which set up a bell tent filled with gift bags to keep them entertained.

When it was time to party, The Pedal Tones provided the tunes, while Fells Fun Booth provided lots of creative photo opportunities!

FLUFFY GUESTS
OF HONOUR

For Lucy and Mickey, their special day wouldn’t have been complete without their beloved pets. Their dogs donned adorable floral necklaces for photos, stealing the show with their cuteness. To include their cat Gizzy, they concocted a signature cocktail called the ‘Gizmo,’ a playful twist on a Cosmopolitan. Edible cocktail toppers featuring Gizzy’s face were a brilliant touch.

WEDDING treats

After their ceremony, canapes and speeches, Lucy and Mickey enjoyed ‘half time pies’ with their guests. This nod to football not only kept bellies full but also added an element of fun to the celebration. It kept everyone ticking over before the hog roast in the evening.

Rise Bespoke Foods contributed to the Pinterest-worthy dessert table, while Pretty Pennys Bakery created a doughnut wedding cake and delicious macarons.

Our favourite part is possibly the DIY crisp station!
