A Northern Heart &
wigan soul wedding
This wedding styled shoot is pure northern magic – bursting with colour, character, and community.
Hosted at the iconic The Old Courts, A Northern Heart & Wigan Soul Wedding brings brilliant local suppliers together. It shows how to throw a party that’s stylish, down-to-earth, and packed with personality.
Think pies on the menu, disco balls on the dance floor, Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls on the tables. there is also a cheeky nod to northern musical heritage.

Northern Style
The Vibe
The Old Courts in Wigan set the scene perfectly for the shoot – full of history, character, and just the right amount of edge. Once a Victorian courtroom, now a creative hub, it’s the kind of venue where disco balls feel right at home next to stained glass windows.
Bold colour was the vibe of the day. Inspired by vintage Wigan Casino posters, Willow & Fig MCR brought in bright, clashing tones and statement florals. Rock ‘n’ Soul Events kept the party energy alive with disco balls, records from local bands, and a styling setup with pure northern heart.

Details
“We wanted to create a vibrant styled shoot that felt really down-to-earth but still stylish, like the kind of wedding you’d definitely want to be at!” Dani from Rock ‘n’ Soul Events told us.
Mama Inc Studio added cheeky stationery details (yes, the menus included Wigan kebabs and meat & potato pie), while Daydreamer Creative Studio created a velvet banner inspired by The Tomangoes’ “I Really Love You.” Every detail had Wigan soul, with a big wink of northern humour.
Wedding Cake & pie
No Wigan wedding is complete without pies, and this styled shoot took that very seriously. HunniBunz Kitchen rolled out a buffet spread packed with proper northern scran, from grazing boards to those all-important pies.
The showstopper was the cake by Mrs C’s Bakery . A tongue-in-cheek creation made to look look like a pie, with the phrase “’Til Death Do Us Pie.” It’s pure Wigan humour, and honestly, we’re still talking about it.
When the team tucked into the cake, photographer Lindsey (Kaptured By Lindsey) captured a flatlay showing Wigan’s heart. It featured Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls tins, Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic badges, and crumbs from the epic pie-cake hybrid.
Soulful wedding looks
The fashion for the shoot was all about mixing party vibes with northern style. The Dressing Room brought in gowns that were fun and glamorous, while Tallula Vintage added unique alternative dresses – the kind any alt nearly wed would rock as a second look. Silver Sixpence In Her Shoe tied it all together with vintage-inspired jewellery, accessories and veils. These delicate details added just the right touch of nostalgia without losing that bold Wigan edge.
SG Menswear Suit Hire kept things sharp with classic tuxedos that gave Jaxon proper dapper energy.
Hair and makeup completed the look. Hair By Nina captured the soul of a northern wedding with a beehive-inspired style that nodded to 60s and 70s subcultures. Meanwhile Beck Lowe MUA brought a polished look to Dani.

Banterful Ceremony
No northern wedding is complete without a bit of humour, and Hazel The Rainbow Celebrant delivered in spades. Her ceremony was full of laughter, classic northern banter, and genuinely joyful moments that make you forget weddings have to be stiff or serious.
Hazel’s approach made the ceremony feel totally authentic and fun, perfectly capturing the heart and soul of a wedding in Wigan. Every smile, every cheeky glance, and every genuine reaction shows that a wedding can celebrate love and have a proper party vibe.
Northern Pride through a lens
“Uncle Joe’s historical factory is situated across the road from The Old Courts and is still very much a big part of Wigan’s culture, trading worldwide!” Dani told us. Plus “us Wiganers know you just can’t beat a frolic with a traffic cone and kerb side post-sesh scran after a big night down King Street!”
With that in mind Kaptured By Lindsey caught every laugh, bold detail, and cheeky nod in her signature relaxed style. She took the shoot beyond the Old Courts, turning everyday landmarks into wedding magic. Playful snaps with traffic cones, the iconic Uncle Joe’s Mint Ball factory in the background, her photos perfectly match the a northern vibe: lively, fun, and full of personality.
