Rainbow DIY Wedding- Kitchen Party!
Our Rainbow DIY wedding took place over two days in three different locations. Our ceremony was an intimate affair held in St George’s Hall in Liverpool. My autistic son walked me down the aisle to Mcfly’s ‘It’s all about you’. My new husband and I danced right back out to Blink 182’s ‘first date’. Following our ceremony, we went back to my mum’s house for a proper kitchen rave with a BBQ and bouncy castle! The following day, we held our wedding reception at Jynx Bar Skelmersdale, a lifesaver venue that we sourced a week before due to ours going out of business! We totally DIY’d the whole place with the brightest colours and had an absolute ball! Everything from the photo booth backdrop to the table centre pieces were sourced and made by me!
Rainbow DIY Wedding Style!
I wore the same dress on both days, which I found on Etsy and had shipped from America. I switched up accessories, including shoes and bag, to keep things interesting! I did my own makeup and hair on both days too. Shout out to my excellent brow girl Emma Murphy, as she worked her hardest for months to get them up to scratch!
Instead of having bouquets, we had balloons from Thoughts That Count which proved to be exceptionally fun on the day! My bridesmaids wore the most colourful dresses I could get my hands on, and the two best men where just as bright- it was a true rainbow affair! The buttonholes used where made by myself and my husband out of colourful comic book pages and all the men wore Converse / Van’s in bright colours that matched their allocated colour.
DIY Sweetie Table- Wedding Treats!
For our Rainbow DIY wedding reception, we had our favourite cake – giant Connie and Colin the Caterpillars with a ton of their babies surrounding them. I took great delight in smashing that into my new husbands face straight after cutting the cakes together!
