Here’s what Tabby told us about her and Joe’s colourful barn wedding:
“Our wedding day was held at our family’s farm, and we DIY’d lots of the elements to save costs. Luckily, the sun was out all day and the fields were full of bright yellow buttercups.
We had an amazing celebrant perform our ceremony [Emily The Celebrant], followed by a cocktail cart and Mexican street food [Sabroso Street] for dinner. We couldn’t pick just one dessert so we had a small cake from a supermarket that we decorated with berries and pictures of our cat and dog, plus a big variety of mixed cakes and brownies.
Instead of flower girls we had flower grannies – Rosemary & Barbara, who walked down the aisle together with their baskets of petals.”

Tabby continued to tell us about her and Joe’s DIY wedding approach:
“We wanted the wedding to feel super relaxed and informal. We wanted it to be rustic and not hide the fact it was on a farm, but we weren’t huge fans of the typical bunting-gingham-straw kind of vibe. Picking just one colour for the theme was too difficult so we took inspiration from wildflowers and went with multi coloured decorations instead. We bought all of the (fake) flowers second hand online, or borrowed them from family. I was a bit worried when putting together the centrepieces that they would look like a child had thrown together a load of mismatched flowers, but with the help of our aesthetically-minded friends we were able to make it fit our vision.
To bring our colourful barn wedding dream to life, we wanted a lovely wooden altar to get married in front of, and my very talented dad made one based on our many Pinterest pictures!
We spent the whole week before the wedding preparing and decorating the barn, and my parents in particular did so much work clearing and cleaning it.”

Tabby and Joe couldn’t possibly celebrate their big day without their two gorgeous pets:
“One of our favourite parts of the day was taking some beautiful photos with our fur babies, Chonk and Olive. Chonk doesn’t need any accessories because he is just so cute on his own, although he doesn’t look too pleased in the photos! We spent weeks practicing with Olive to hold a little bouquet that we made for her, and she did so great on the day being a little flower girl. We also included them both in our wedding cake decor!”

supplier love
We always ask couples if any of their suppliers were extra awesome. Here’s what Tabby and Joe told us about their wedding photography dream team:
“Our photographer was Cassandra Lane and she was assisted by Imogen Wastell. They were both so brilliant and we had such a laugh for the entire day. They captured so many amazing moments and some of our favourite photos are actually those of the guests just having a lovely time.”
