wedding ceremony
Emily and Rob shared with us what made their big day so special:
“We live on the Isle of Wight and wanted to get married here. It was important to us to find a venue that was relaxed and had the impressive beauty of the Isle Of Wight, but could also accommodate our 150 guests. There needed to be space for everyone to camp, including campervans, plus room for a massive marquee! We visited Compton Farm and knew that this was the perfect cliff top wedding venue for us. We spend most opportunities (when the weather permits) at the local beaches and this place has always been special to us.
2 days before, We got legally married in a registry office with our children and parents as we couldn’t conduct an official ceremony in a field. The outdoor wedding ceremony was conducted by close friends, we sang songs by Bob Marley and Oasis with all our guests over traditional hymns, enjoying the British summer weather of rain and sunshine. Everyone then headed back towards the marquee to enjoy live music, delicious food, drinks and lots of dancing.”

Fun, colour and personality were key things on Emily and Rob’s wedding priority list:
“We wanted our cliff top wedding to be a colourful festival with lots of fun personal touches. Rob made garden games for all of our guests to enjoy. Each table was named after a record (we love music) that had a personal meaning to us, and the table flowers were grown lovingly by an aunt for the special day.
The rest of our colourful wedding flowers were from Sarah Matthews and they provided the most beautiful flowers for the whole of the wedding party. We chose to use colorful dried flowers which matched perfectly to the dresses.
The food was a Moroccan inspired menu created for us by Eat Street. This sharing family style meal was perfect for the day with the added dessert of jelly and ice cream.”

Emily was able to dream big with her wedding dress, thanks to her mother who is a talented seamstress!
“My mum made my wedding dress, the bridesmaids dresses, and our daughters flower girl dresses. I wanted a subtle and traditional front with a ‘wow’ back – brightly coloured hand embroidered flowers encrusted with sparkles and sequins which matched our girls’ flower girl dresses. I then had a flowing cape! The colours matched our homemade aisle.”

wedding day
Emily shared with us some of her favourite parts of her and Rob’s cliff top wedding day, as well as some advice for couples wanting to do something similar:
“One of my favourite parts was walking down the aisle and seeing all the people you gathered in one place on a special day for us. Also, the first dance was pretty special, we both had hidden sparkly jackets under our table and got changed into them when it was time. It really got the party started which carried on till early hours.
If you have children like we do, then I’d recommend getting childcare to assist and look after them on the day – the best money we spent. I could relax knowing they were being looked after and no pressure on family members so they could also enjoy the day without being on childcare duty!”
Big love to SJ Jones Photography for sharing these brilliant relaxed wedding photos with us, and of course to Emily and Rob for sharing the details of their special day.
