DIY Rainbow Pixel
wedding
Gosh, what a fusion of ideas we have for you today! This gorgeous real wedding brought together the dreams of Margherita, known as the living unicorn, and Stefano, a metalhead with a love for video games. Blending their vibrant personalities and incredible crafting talents, they created a DIY rainbow Pixel Wedding that was truly their own. As Margherita puts it…
“(the wedding theme was) A dreamlike collision of soft, fairytale hues and pixelated nostalgia – a perfect balance of romance and rebellion.”

Video Game Main Characters
Margherita tells us that when it came to their outfits:
“I wanted to recreate a fairytale feeling giving us a prince and princess like look, but at the same time giving us main characters of a fantasy video game look. I designed both our clothes from fashion figures to patterns and prototyping and hand made them at a high fashion standard.”

Rainbow Unicorn Princess
Margherita’s two-piece gown was a creation of her own design, made with help from her mum (MargheritArt / La Sarta in Tasca). It gave off strong rainbow Princess Peach vibes. Blocks of pastel rainbow colours shimmered beneath layers of sparkly tulle, catching the light as she moved and danced. A lace-up, pearl-beaded bodice completed the magical look. Instead of a traditional veil, Margherita wore a feather-trimmed, hooded cape and a stunning elven circlet by Brigid Tiare across her forehead.
Later in the evening, she switched the long skirt for a short, glittery one. To top it off, she slipped on a pair of hand-painted Converse high tops – her own creation – ready to dance the night away.
Prince charming
Meanwhile, Stefano’s suit was also designed and crafted by Margherita and her mum (MargheritArt / La Sarta in Tasca). It complemented the pastel tones of her gown perfectly. Continuing the fairy-tale vibe, he wore a look fit for royalty: high-neck shirt, cravat, waistcoat, and suit trousers. But the real showstopper? A jacket with long lapels, silver buttons, and chains. Prince Charming, eat your heart out!
Pastel Rainbow crew
And how do you complement a pastel princess? By having your crew dressed in pastel rainbow tones too, of course. Margherita and her mum also created the bridesmaids’ outfits. The bridesmaids wore cute short dresses with a neckline that mirrored Margherita’s gown. Matching pearl-beaded jackets featured the same high collar seen in Stefano’s look. To finish, each carried a drawstring bag matching the colour of their dress.
DIY Decor Details
After the church ceremony, the newlyweds travelled in a pastel blue vintage car to the restaurant, where their guests were already waiting. Their first dance took place outside – an enchanting start to the celebrations.
At the reception, the couple sat at a sweetheart table decorated with pastel rainbow fabric from Margherita’s dress and glowing twinkle lights. Wooden rainbow “Piranha Plants,” marked with “player 1” and “player 2,” showed where the couple would sit, blending the pastel princess and gaming themes beautifully. Each guest table followed suit, featuring a single pastel colour and a gaming-inspired name displayed on its own wooden Piranha Plant.
To add more detail, keyboard keys and handmade pastel paper stars were scattered across the tables. Menus designed in retro gaming fonts marked everyone’s places. The result? A joyful mashup of unicorn rainbows and bold, 8-bit, retro-gaming pixelation.
Pixel Cake
The wedding cake, made by Kavarne Zvon, was a three-tiered square masterpiece decorated with pastel macarons. It nodded playfully to the pixelated gaming theme. Pixel-style wooden figures of Margherita and Stefano sat on either side. The cake cutting took place outdoors under a hexagonal floral arch created by 2B for You. This beautiful structure also served as a photo backdrop for the couple and guests throughout the night.
Rainbow Sweet Treats
And finally, what’s a celebration without sweets? Guests helped themselves to treats from a rainbow-themed sweet table. Jars of colourful sweets were arranged on matching drapes, creating an irresistible display.
Happy Ever after
Even the sunset got the memo about the theme and provided a stunning peach coloured sky for romantic couples portraits.
Margherita told us,
“We had two very special ingredients: the first is my wonderful mother who is my fashion teacher and helped me make our clothes. The second is our amazing photographer Hiro Arts Photography: while most were telling me our theme was strange and unconventional, she encouraged me in pursuing my vision for the wedding and thanks to her we had the day and photos of our dreams.”
