Get ready to smile because this rainbow barn wedding is SO full of joy! Rachael and Kev tied the knot at The Wellbeing Farm in Bolton, and they filled their day with colour and personal touches. Kirsty Rockett Photography took these colourful wedding photos and we can’t wait to share them with you. Enjoy!
Here’s what Rachael and Kev told us about their rainbow barn wedding:
“We knew we wanted to get married quickly – I couldn’t bear the thought of waiting years (despite already being together for 17 years)! We fell in love with The Wellbeing Farm immediately on our first visit and they had the perfect date in 6 months time, so quick decisions had to be made (I loved that, I work well under pressure). The venue really encourages you to do YOU which is exactly the vibe we wanted. The best bit was that they allowed our dogs to be there all day as the best men. So we went for it!
Our guest list was small with 40 guests – We wanted it to be intimate and have quality time to spend with every person there.
We walked down the aisle with our dogs to a steelpan band (it’s impossible not to smile at the cheerful noise they make) and they played us out as a married couple to the Super Mario Theme which was awesome!”
Fun Wedding Entertainment
“After the ceremony we had cocktails and canapes in the sunshine and a magician had our guests laughing and gasping at his tricks during the wedding breakfast. We relaxed outside around the firepit, toasting marshmallows until the evening party started. Our first dance kicked off an epic party with inflatable guitars, a prosecco bar and late night pizza. Lots of our loved ones are gamers so we hired an arcade machine, and lots of them love tattoos so we had a fun temporary tattoo station from Doris Loves.”
Rachael and Kev threw as much of themselves as possible into their rainbow barn wedding. Their DIY decor is so joyful!
“We didn’t really choose an overall theme for the wedding, we just wanted to put as much of our personality into it as possible and things that would make us and all our guests happy too. Both of us love colour so the barn looked like a piñata had exploded in there! We incorporated little touches here and there as a nod to our relationship (our nickname for each other is Birdie because birds mate for life, so of course little birds featured).
Ourselves and my [Rachael’s] Mum DIY’d most of the decor together (paper tulips for tables, bird name tags, rainbow arch and streamers on the ceiling) which was so much fun and a lovely way to spend time together. It was a mish mash of everything we love.
Our wedding was also entirely vegan which I loved as that’s very important to us and we tried to make everything as eco friendly as possible.”
How badass does this amazing couple look? Here’s what they told us about their unique wedding wear:
“We kept our outfits a secret from each other so I had no idea Kev was wearing such an amazing pink suit (Ken-ergy before it was cool!) and everyone adored his disco ball shoes.
My dress was from Vinted and I added rainbow shoes and a fabric tulip bouquet (my favourite flowers). My pink evening gown was so fun to wear and added some amazing colour to our photography. I was glad to get out of heels into my rainbow Doc Martens!
Kev organised little matching suits for our dogs with pocket watches which were just adorable.”
