Gothic Romance & Pumpkins
An Alternative Halloween Wedding

Jess and Andrew’s Halloween wedding was the perfect mix of spooky and romantic. Their gothic wedding at Plum Park Manor was filled with rich autumn colours, candlelight and pumpkins in every corner. With a small guest list and a relaxed feel, the day reflected everything they love.  It was an alternative wedding full of warmth, creativity, and just the right touch of Halloween magic.

Alternative gothic wedding style

Jess wore a striking black dress from Bonsoire Bridal, embracing her gothic style from the start. Her bright orange hair and makeup (which she did herself  with the help of her bridesmaids and mum), added a playful contrast to the dress and statement veil. Her bouquet created by Foxglove & Black, carried deep red, purple, black and orange tones that matched Andrew’s button hole.

Andrew wore a rich plum velvet suit from Milano Couture, chosen with his seven-year-old son, who was also the best man. The little best man wore black and red, matching the Halloween-inspired colour palette and making the pair look perfectly coordinated. Andrew kept his outfit a surprise so Jess had no idea what he would be wearing. This made their first look feel all the more extra special.

The two bridesmaids wore bright orange Ever Pretty gowns, adding another pop of seasonal colour and completing the alternative wedding look with a playful, Halloween wedding vibe.

A Halloween Setting with Gothic details

With close family and friends in the room, the atmosphere was relaxed and intimate. The ceremony took place in a light, airy space, but Jess and Andrew’s touches brought in the Halloween vibe: a pumpkin-lined aisle, flickering lanterns, black drapes, and deep red, purple and orange florals by Foxglove & Black.

A dark welcome sign with a cobweb in the corner greeted guests, while the black order of the day listed each section with chic symbols. Behind the ceremony table, a neon orange ‘til death’ sign added a cheeky pop of colour. Confetti flew as vows were exchanged, landing on pumpkins and candles, making for joyful, playful moments. These seasonal and gothic touches turned a simple room into a memorable pumpkin wedding scene.

Occult Touches & Personal Magic

The reception mixed quirky, gothic, and seasonal fun. Tables were draped in black, with deep purple, orange, and red blooms and dark green foliage by Foxglove & Black. Tall black candelabras held long tapered candles, while tiny glass bottles, black lanterns, and little pumpkins – some glittered, some not – were scattered across the tables.

It sat on a log slice with mini pumpkins and a sparkly black gothic ‘Eternally Yours’ sign on top. Nearby, light-up letters spelled LOVE.

Halloween fun

Guests could try tarot readings or mix drinks at the ‘Pick Your Poison’ stations – tapped jars of vintage lemonade, mojito, and mystery drinks, alongside pink, Hendricks, and blood orange gin with a bucket of tonics. A cheeky Halloween photo of Jess and Andrew in the background reminded everyone just how much fun they like to have.

Sparklers, Lanterns & Second Look

As night fell and the music began the party sparked into action – starting with a sparkler tunnel for Jess and Andrew to walk through.

Jess changed into her second look: a short black strapless mini dress, fishnet tights, black boots, and a white sequin shirt with black bats on the back. The couple stepped into the dark for champagne spray photos. Andrew went for it, fizz flying everywhere, all captured perfectly by Ella Grace Photography . While outside the portraits continued with lanterns.

Between sparklers, champagne, and lantern-lit shots, the images capture the energy and joy of the evening – exactly the kind of alternative Halloween wedding they wanted.
