sleeping beauty
Here’s what Victoria Taylor told us about this Pastel Fairytale Wedding shoot:
“After visiting St Osyth Priory to work on a wedding, Marina and I were captivated by the wedding venue and its fairytale vibe. After seeing the ballet at Christmas and loving all the soft, spring colours, we devised the Sleeping Beauty shoot concept. The original score was composed by Tchaikovsky and also used in the Disney version in 1959. So, we assembled the team and devised a theme to capture the fresh ambiance of spring, linking it to a beloved fairytale, all taking place inside an ancient chapel to truly showcase what can be achieved with a bit of creativity and fairy dust.
I feel the best part of the shoot was utilising the antique spinning wheel. We decorated it with flowers and used candles and the Sleeping Beauty Disney book to link it all with the theme. I found it on Facebook marketplace from an antique dealer in Ipswich, and I drove to collect it. I adore it, and now it is in my mum’s home. But it shows you what you can find to add little quirks to your wedding day.”
princess wedding dress
Bridal Hair by Marina took hair inspiration from the original 1950s Disney Aurora, with flowing waves that work perfectly on a modern bride looking to incorporate something a bit different. This paired well with the layers of fabric from the stunning wedding dress.
Victoria Taylor created the makeup look with a spring colour palette, taking inspiration from Elle Fanning’s version of Aurora in ‘Maleficient’. It’s a highly blushed look with soft pinks on the eyes, framed by luxurious individual lashes.
The gorgeous fairytale wedding dress is from Millia London, with a whimsical and glamorous train of ruffled tulle. What a stunning, modern take on a ‘princess’ dress! It is paired beautifully with dainty and elegant wedding accessories from PS With Love.
Model Megan Fincham is a princess performer, so completely understood the assignment.

pastel fairytale wedding styling
C Taylors Floristry transformed the dark chapel into something fit for a pastel fairytale wedding. She filled large urns full of whimsical foliage and created a stunning bouquet of springtime blooms. Stylist Sugar Plum Lane ensured that all the elements worked together in harmony, combining eclectic vintage items into something magical.
Betty K Designs provided the stunning fairytale stationery set, really summarising the vibe of the shoot and adding a magical touch to the table styling. Very Vintage Tea Party provided a pretty selection of cakes, sandwiches, and beverages and styled them ‘afternoon tea’ style with vintage style crockery.
Gemma Giorgio Photography is a pro at shooting in low light, and she captured the ambient glow brilliantly.
how to get the look
We asked Victoria Taylor what advice she’d give to nearly-weds who’d like to recreate this pastel fairytale wedding style:
- For unique whimsical touches, look out for old furniture, old mirrors, and antiques on Facebook marketplace. You never know what you can find.
- For small spaces that need lighting, consider clusters of faux candles tapers in holders to give that ethereal feel. Fake is far safer than real flame, especially with guests in wedding attire and small children.
- Keep it simple. Use foliage, even if it’s artificial. You will see tons of that draped on surfaces in this shoot. It works, and you don’t have to spend hundreds.
- Hire teams that know how to work in spaces that need extra lighting, who’ll understand how to style appropriately, and use flowers and urns to your advantage.
