pop punk
wedding
If you’re a little bit emo at heart, this one’s for you! Clare and Rikki’s pop punk wedding was full of music references, good times, and a deep red colour palette that we absolutely adore. Keep reading to find out how this badass couple created a wedding day that was completely unique to them.

deep red
wedding styling
Our favourite thing about this pop punk wedding is the deep and rich wedding styling at The River Mill. Here’s what Clare told us about her emo wedding aesthetic:
“We went for black and deep red wedding styling with gold accents because it sums up our personal styles. Our florist, Foxgloves & Lillies, absolutely MADE the room with her huge arrangements involving deep reds and black and so so many gorgeous deep red roses scattered across the tables, she really captured our vibe in flower form!
We chose deep red runners with black napkins and place cards and asked the venue to supply as many candles and fairy lights as possible for that dark, romantic, cosy winter wedding vibe.
We opted for a gigantic desserts table instead of a wedding cake which went down a treat. Clemie’s Vegan Cakes also ran with our brief using red, black and gold decorations for her delicious creations.”
pop punk
wedding
Music is super important to Clare and Rikki, and they wanted to embrace this on their big day. With a love of emo and pop punk music, they just knew they’d be straying from the ‘conventional’ wedding playlists…
“I [Clare] made all of our signage, including our seating plan. Every detail involved nods to our love of all things emo with skeleton hands and song lyrics added!
We chose to have band names instead of table names. Nickelback is what Rikki used to play to get me to dance at the bar we met in, Neck Deep is who we associate with dating and our lives up until our wedding day, and Linkin Park is Rikki’s absolute favourite, who he can’t go a day without listening to.
Musician Lily Kerbey sang acoustic covers of all the emo/nu metal/pop punk classics during our wedding breakfast which completely blew us away! She mesmerised all of our guests with her angelic voice – even those that don’t listen to Slipknot and Korn on the daily!”
red wedding
dress
Okay, let’s talk about the dress! Clare told us about her and Rikki’s show stopping wedding wear:
“I really wanted to break traditions with my red wedding dress. I tried white and felt like a child playing dress up – red is so much more me, plus it matched our decor perfectly. My wonderful nana made my cape and did all my alterations which really made it mine. Rikki is usually in band t-shirts 24/7, but chose to wear a black velvet suit with a wine red waistcoat!”
