relaxed wedding
ethos
Here’s what Rochelle told us about her vintage Hollywood wedding:
“Having been together for 11 years, we wanted our wedding to be a relaxed celebration for all of our family and friends who have always supported us. The aim was for everyone to thoroughly enjoy themselves as we finally made things official – and legally binding! We didn’t want to get too bogged down in expectations, traditions or formalities.
Above all else, we wanted everyone to walk away thinking ‘That was a great party’, and it’s fair to say that mission was accomplished.”
glamorous wedding
styling
Rochelle continues:
“Our wedding was at The Monastery in Manchester, a place very special to our hearts. It’s such an epic venue that not much was needed to style the place – we let the beauty of the building shine through.
We wanted a relaxed and modern Hollywood glamour wedding theme. Our colours were navy blue and white with small, tasteful touches of gold.
Barkers Florist supplied our wedding flowers. We had beautiful white roses with green foliage and touches of navy thistle, as a nod to my mum’s side of the family who are proudly Scottish.
The wedding cake was made by Hey Little Cupcake – it was a cupcake tower with a cake on top, all decorated to look like white roses. Everyone said it was the most delicious cake ever! ”
vintage hollywood
wedding wear
Rochelle knew exactly what she wanted when it came to her bridal hair, so she built her outfit around it:
“I always knew I wanted Hollywood waves for my hair, it was the only detail I had always been set on! The Vintage Beauty Parlour did an amazing job. To match my hair, I went with a vintage-inspired lace mermaid dress and a matching veil with lace edging. My makeup was by Mimi Lomax who turned me and my bridal party into vintage beauties!
My husband George wore a navy blue tuxedo with black accent details.
Our bridesmaids were able to pick whatever style of dress they wanted in navy blue so they felt their best. Groomsmen were in more traditional navy blue suits with grey waistcoats.”
the party!
Music was very important to Rochelle and George when planning their big day:
“Music was a big part of our wedding day. We had Northern String Quartet playing our favourite music before, during and after the ceremony. Later in the evening, one of the groom’s best friends, who happens to be a George Michael and Freddie Mercury impersonator, took to the stage and had everyone dancing. The DJ kept the good vibes going way into the night – so much in fact, that numerous guests got up and gave impromptu performances of their own.”
advice from
the bride
We asked Rochelle what advice she’d give to couples planning their wedding:
“The main piece of wedding advice I would give is to not let the pressure of the occasion get to you too much. Society says that this is one of ‘the most important days of your life’, but in reality, it should just be one of the most memorable.
It’s a day to celebrate you as a couple and the start of you embarking on your married life together. It does not define your worth and it doesn’t matter if things go wrong!
You’re together, you’re in love and about to start the rest of your lives. Just take a wedding for what it is… a really good party to celebrate you as a couple.”
