Wuthering Heights Wedding
at a Historic Venue
Inspired by Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, this styled shoot reimagines Cathy’s story through two contrasting wedding looks at Arley House & Gardens.
Created by Winter Peach Photography, the concept draws inspiration from the novel through maximalist styling, windswept portraits and carefully chosen details. Trailing red florals, tarot-inspired stationery, dramatic fashion and ribbons dancing in the trees all become part of the story.

Historic Wedding Venue inspiration
Arley House & Gardens became the perfect setting for Claire’s interpretation of Wuthering Heights. Formal Italian gardens, historic stone walls and the estate’s woodland offered contrasting backdrops that echoed the changing moods of Cathy’s story. The venue’s gothic tower became a natural stand-in for Thrushcross Grange, helping bring the literary inspiration to life.
One of Claire’s favourite details was the ribbon tree, inspired by the recent film adaptation. Dozens of ribbons were tied to the branches on the morning of the shoot before the wind caught them.
“Those shots turned out exactly as I had imagined,” says Claire of Winter Peach Photography.

Wedding Breakfast table
Inspired by the grandeur of Thrushcross Grange, the reception styling embraced a rich, maximalist approach. Rather than recreating a period dining table, Claire layered historical references through carefully chosen objects, abundant foliage and luxurious decorative details.
Wedding Stationery
Padraig Anthony Design created bold stationery inspired by the story’s darker themes. Deep crimson tones, gothic typography and bespoke tarot cards referencing The Lovers and Death introduced the literary references from the first invitation, while menus and place cards carried the same dramatic aesthetic across the reception table.
Maximalist Wedding Cake
Blueberry Moon Cakes created a towering statement cake that became the centrepiece of the reception styling. Draped sugar work, intricate piping and oversized red sugar roses were finished with hyper-real strawberries, one of Claire’s must-have ideas for the shoot.
As Claire advises, if you’re recreating this look, “Think maximalist, especially when it comes to your cake, table décor and bridal outfit”.
Dramatic Wedding Bouquet
Floral Roundabout created a striking trailing bouquet of crimson roses, calla lilies and cascading amaranthus. Rather than following a traditional wedding style, the elongated design echoed Cathy’s tragic final scenes, bringing movement and drama to the photographs.

Cathy Earnshaw's Wedding Look
Jocelyn Banks Designer created an ivory gown that balanced historical references with contemporary design. The off-the-shoulder neckline, dramatic puff sleeves and full skirt nodded to period dress without becoming costume, while the oversized bow and sparkling detail added a theatrical flourish.
For later portraits, the look evolved with the addition of a rich burgundy velvet cape fastened with a handcrafted heart brooch by Present Perfect Creations. The deeper tones hinted at the darker chapters of Cathy’s story while allowing the ivory gown to remain the focal point.
The second, darker look
The final look transformed the mood completely. A black overskirt and bodice also by Jocelyn Banks Designer, with a heart choker by Present Perfect Creations and a sheer black veil created a dramatic interpretation of Cathy’s final scenes.

Hair, Makeup and Accessories
Creations by Natalie styled two distinct hairstyles to accompany the changing narrative. Loose waves with braided detail complemented the first look, while sculptural victory rolls introduced a more dramatic finish for the second.
Makeup by Gowree created a makeup look inspired by Pati Dubroff’s makeup for the film adaptation. The makeup look comprised a heavy-handed blush to mimic Cathy’s windswept flush in the film, along with cool-toned eyes and a berry lip.
Nature-inspired hair accessories from The Lilac Tree completed the ivory look, while House of Elliot’s ivory lace wedding boots added another historical detail beneath the sweeping skirt.
Capturing the day
Winter Peach Photography developed the concept and captured every stage of the shoot, from the grandeur of Arley House & Gardens to the smaller styling details that brought the Wuthering Heights inspiration to life.
As Claire reflects:
“The weather really played its part and made for some incredible windswept shots, particularly with the bridal veil and the red chiffon closing series.”
The changing weather lifted the veil, caught the ribbons in the trees and brought movement to the final portraits.
Alongside the photography, Electric Joy Moments created atmospheric reels that captured the movement, mood and changing light throughout the day.
