How To Rock A Dark Boho Elopement
Be true to yourselves
Don’t worry about traditions. Wear whatever you feel happy in - you’ll have the photographic memories forever!
Simple Is Best
Don’t overdo it on the styling - a beautiful venue like this has lots of natural spots for photos and its own wildflowers growing.
Think seasonally
When it comes to the flowers, ask your florist what’s in season within your chosen colour palette.
Outdoor Autumn Wedding Styling
This dark boho elopement shoot was designed to show off the wonderful Jervaulx Abbey as a unique wedding venue. Nestled into the heart of North Yorkshire, this ruin creates stunning backdrops for alternative weddings. The styling, by My Pretties UK, was deliberately kept minimal to enhance the beauty of the surroundings – when you have a stunning ruined abbey as a backdrop, you really don’t need much!
The abbey was styled with a tablescape, alongside a bell tent from Bears and Butterflies to provide shelter. The Petal Studio used a mixture of dried and fresh flowers in neutral tones with pops of peach.
Check out the romantic lighting rig from Love Lights The Way – what a brilliant addition to an intimate wedding! We’re also loving the wedding cake from Where The Ribbon Ends, with a subtle marble effect and gold leaf to add a bit of glamour.
Dark Boho Elopement Looks
Ellie rocked a stunning black wedding dress from Shikoba Bride, with her beau Jake in a cool orange suit from ASOS. The team wanted to show that wedding dresses definitely don’t have to be white and that you can rock a black dress whilst still keeping it brilliantly bridal. This dress was elegant and dramatic, paired with a cathedral-length black veil by Rebecca Anne Designs for added drama. Equally, Jake’s suit was an orange colour to show how you can deviate from the traditional ‘hire’ suits. Loft and Daughter provided the jewellery for this shoot, which layered perfectly for the boho-glam vibe.
Charlotte Mallinder MUA created the makeup look for this shoot, including a soft yet bold smoky eye to suit the ‘dark boho elopement’ theme. Hair by Tosetti styled Ellie’s bohemian waves to suit the vibe perfectly.
This awesome pair (That Odd Couple) danced away to acoustic tunes from Married To The Music, getting lost in the moment with each other. Oh, the romance!
In true Stevie Nicks style, Ellie also had a decorated tambourine from Folky Dokey! What a gorgeous, unique wedding accessory.
