love never dies
dracula wedding

Get ready for some Gothic gorgeousness! This Dracula wedding shoot is the brainchild of Becky from Foxglove & Black. She rallied together a team of alternative wedding suppliers to create a modern twist on this classic gothic novel. Keep reading for dark glamour and Victorian-meets-modern wedding styling.

victorian gothic
wedding styling

Here’s what Becky from Foxglove & Black told us about this Dracula wedding styling:

“I love a gothic wedding theme and as it is one of my most requested styles, I wanted to show a different way to use decor to give that dark and moody vibe. Instead of using the classic Victorian centrepiece of a candelabra, creepy branches were added to the floral arrangements, to give a feeling of trees in a graveyard. To give a nod to the Victorian era, I used cut-glass, candlesticks, antique style votives, and crystals hanging from the table centrepiece to imitate those used in a Victorian chandelier. Velvet tablecloths added a touch of luxury, with a bright red neon ‘Til  Death’ sign hanging from the coffin backdrop.”

dracula wedding
ceremony

We love Blackfriars Priory as an alternative wedding venue! For this theme, having a venue with the right vibe was an absolute must, and this medieval 17th century priory is an absolute showstopper! With its high ceiling and bare brick walls, it makes the perfect backdrop for a Victorian gothic wedding.

Beth from Evertold Ceremonies was the celebrant for this shoot, who performed both a handfasting & wine ceremony ritual, alongside her bespoke wedding reading.

gothic wedding
flowers

These alternative wedding flowers are another creation of Foxglove & Black. Here’s what Becky told us about them:

“I created the flowers with the idea that I wanted them to be wild with Red Grevillea Grass, which I used to look like the ‘flames of hell’! Beautiful bright red roses were mixed with dark foliage and pops of purple to complement the colour scheme. Texture was added with Amaranthus and black thistles.”

dracula wedding
stationery

For the stationery, Foxglove & Black  combined a decorative motif background that fitted the Victorian era, with bat detailing and the classic Dracula quote ‘Love Never Dies’. Becky used a distinctively gothic font to match the theme and the faded tree illustrations mimicked the trees used on the table. A coffin shape was also incorporated into the design, with the ‘save the date’ card also being cut to the shape.

gothic
wedding wear

Zoe from Scarlet-Tayla designed a beautiful red and black wedding dress for this Dracula wedding shoot. It was made from dupoin fabric with a lace-up back, bat embellishments, a detachable train and bead detailing. Zoe also made the waistcoat for model Adam.

Model Sophie is rocking a hand-painted leather jacket from Sammy Lee’s Retro Emporium, complete with a full moon design, bright red roses and a flying bat. To accessorise, Kelly from Bunny Loves Evie made the most beautiful black tiara with red and black beading, and hand beaded earrings to match.

Becci Boo’s Shoe Design made Sophie’s black shoes, which looked absolutely stunning with silver & bright red flowers winding up the black glitter heel.

Selinni Bhatti was the make-up artist, who created a ‘vampy’ look on Sophie with bright red lips and a dark smoky eye. The hairstyle was created by Helen of Elegance Hair Design, who created a volumized updo that worked beautifully with the tiara.

dracula wedding
cake

Hayley from Seven Crows Cake Company made this brilliant alternative wedding cake! The top 2 tiers were made to look like a gravestone with the wedding date and ‘Love Never dies’ quote etched into the icing. With a burgundy base and sitting on a ‘blood’ splattered cake board, the contrast of colours is bold and striking striking. A black rose with a single drop of ‘blood’ dropping from its petals was added for detail, alongside gothic ornate detailing on the top tier.

alternative
wedding photography

This Dracula wedding couldn’t have been captured without a brilliant photographer and videographer! Here’s what Becky told us about the images and video:

“Ajay of Blue Jay Photography photographed everything so beautifully, capturing all the detail and the moodiness of the theme with some great shots of our couple.

Lucy of Waystone Films filmed the shoot and created a hauntingly  beautiful film, with amazing light effects.”
