Fear not, fellow Unconventionals – Iโm here to tell you that if itโs raining cats and dogs on your wedding day, you can absolutely ROCK the hell out of it… as long as youโre prepared!

Rainy wedding days - The Silver Linings
There is no need to be bummed out by a rainy wedding day! Here are some cool superstitions and traditions to put your mind at ease…
โ Itโs good luck! Hindu tradition says itโs a sign your marriage will be long-lasting.ย
โ Hand fasting traditions (such an awesome idea for a unique wedding ceremony!) where the coupleโs hands are bound together with ribbon or cord, also have some claim to this as โthe wetter the rope, the tighter the knotโ (heard of โtying the knotโ?)
โ Rain can signify fertility – if youโre into the idea of having a few sprogs running around, this could be a winner!
โ Rain symbolises cleansing and washing away past troubles. A great excuse to โExpelliamusโ the hell out of anything you donโt need in your marriage.
โ If youโre having real flowers, rain keeps them fresher!
โ And lastly… it camouflages all those happy tears! You can feel free to weep away and no oneย would be any the wiser!
be prepared...
Have some funky wellies on standby. What an awesome way to show off your personality!
Colourful umbrellas can be an absolute winner too – they can make for some EPIC group shots! Pick someone in the wedding party to keep your rainy wedding props stashed in a safe place too, like the boot of their car or their Tardis.
have a rainy wedding backup plan
It can be the worst when youโve chosen an amazing venue with a mind-blowing exterior, only for it to not be used. Think of a back-up plan for what your guests can do inside if the heavens open. Giant lawn games could make for super fun indoor entertainment, or plan some games ahead of time – everyone loves a Mr and Mrs quiz!
indoor wedding photos are just as epic
Trust me, you donโt need to be outside to get ace wedding photos. A good photographer knows that itโs all about the light. They will always be looking for amazing photo ops and can find inspiration even in the darkest of places. Wedding venues should be prepared for unpredictable weather and might even have some great hidden spots. So, no matter what happens, your photos will be incredible if you choose an awesome wedding photographer.
Rainy wedding mindset
Ok, so you might not have banked on a wash-out wedding. But I swear, rain on your wedding day is actually AWESOME!
Cold days? What a perfect excuse to get cosy and romantic – you can even whip out some candles (hello awesome lighting!)
Thunderstorms? Be still my beating heart! How amazing will lightning be in your rainy wedding photos?
Invited the kids? Just make sure theyโve got some wellies and puddle jumping can commence! Ok, maybe this one isnโt just for the kidsโฆ
Kisses in the rain! Maybe Iโve watched too many 90s teen dramas but could things get any moreย romantic?
JUST REMEMBERโฆ Itโs probably not going to chuck it down for the whole day. Even if it did, embrace the outrageous – dance, splash and laugh your way into your new spouseโs arms. Because thatโs what itโs all about, right?
