We love a themed wedding here at UW! Here’s what Crystal Anne Photo told us about this pastel retro wedding:
“I had been dying to try a funky Wes Anderson style wedding. Every time I drove by Midtown Bowl, I knew that it would be a cool spot for an elopement shoot. Emily Bender Designs and I connected through Facebook and she helped me bring the vision to life! The rest is history.
I was inspired by the asymmetrical architecture, bright colors, and vintage history of Midtown Bowl. It is a funky enough venue to be featured in the publication ‘Accidentally Wes Anderson’ so I knew it would be perfect!
Architecture, colour, and symmetry are a big part of the Wes signature style, so it felt really fun to play with that and make it my own. We also wanted this shoot to be as inclusive as possible, incorporating sustainable event practices and supporting queer and BIPOC businesses.”

We adore this pastel retro wedding aesthetic! The florals from Fauna & Fig perfectly fit the vintage brief, with stunning bouquets in springtime pinks, oranges and yellows. They also contributed some beautiful junebug earrings, inspired by the Wes Anderson Film ‘Moonrise Kingdom’.
Em Bender Designs created the incredible retro wedding stationery set and flat lay with quirky vintage items.

How incredible do this lovely couple look? Model Gabrielle looks super dreamy in the 70s inspired wedding dress from A Day in June Bridal, and Ty is absolutely rocking the pastel blue suit!
The bridesmaids were also kitted out by A Day in June, with mismatched sparkly pink dresses which really added to the funky vintage vibe.
And can we talk about how incredible these wedding photos are? Incredible work, Crystal Anne Photo!
