cinematic wedding style
Alex Vidal Photographe, known for her timeless and cinematic wedding photography, envisioned this shoot as a vibrant homage to Wes Anderson’s world. In collaboration with Amours à L’Ouest and La Polka, they recreated a full wedding day in a 60s summer camp setting, channelling the nostalgic charm of Moonrise Kingdom.
The concept? Two free-spirited lovers elope to the woods for an intimate wedding ceremony, followed by a lively reception with friends and family in a playful, vintage summer camp. The result? A visual feast that’s equal parts quirky and elegant.
retro wedding wear
Thom de Corbie designed a stunning 60s-inspired wedding dress for the bride, crafted from Calais Guipure, a traditional French lace. Details like a daring open back, a playful oversized bow tie, and red heels added a modern twist to this retro wedding look. For an extra touch of whimsy, high socks completed the ensemble. The natural, peachy makeup look was created by AS Maquille, and the jewellery was provided by La Bijouterie Ethique
The groom’s look was equally bold, featuring a cheerful pink suit from L’homme par Lecointre paired with a scout scarf that complemented the bride’s bow. Leather boots added a rugged, laid-back vibe, perfectly aligning with the playful summer camp theme. The couple’s matching floral bouquets, tied with plant-dyed ribbons from Koupaïa, emphasised their unique style and connection.
As if this quirky wedding wasn’t already fun enough, the team also added animal headdresses from Animalesque, which made for some super unique wedding photos!
quirky wedding ideas
Every detail of this shoot, brilliantly styled by Vintage Events, was designed to immerse guests in a ‘Wes Anderson wedding’ world. La Belle Folie, the shoot’s venue, provided the perfect backdrop with its woodland charm, blue caravan, and Nordic bath.
The colourful wedding flowers by Les Bottes d’Anémone featured wildflowers in vintage suitcases and rain boots, bringing a whimsical touch to the outdoor setting.
A woodland wedding ceremony was conducted by STL Happy End, in front of a backdrop created by crossing two wooden sailing ores. To further incorporate the summer camp vibe, a canoe was repurposed into a cocktail bar. A mustard-yellow living room in the woods served as a cozy lounge and photobooth area—complete with vintage furniture, vinyl records, and family photos.
dreamy details
The unique wedding stationery by Allons-y Alonso included engraved, passport-style invitations and a treasure-map-style venue layout. Personalised retro pins and metal mugs served as keepsakes for guests – the perfect ‘summer camp’ wedding favours.
The cakes, designed by Maison Pluriel, were a nod to The Grand Budapest Hotel. These gravity-defying pastries included carrot cake, cinnamon rolls, and madeleines. Childhood favourites were reimagined as sophisticated treats, adding yet another layer of charm to the Wes Anderson wedding day.
