FAMILY FARM
ELOPEMENT
Here’s what Ashley told us about her and Jason’s book-themed wedding day:
“We had an intimate, at-home elopement on my family farm in rural Middle Tennessee with around a dozen of our closest family members. We were married under my favorite tree in the backyard which borders the pasture where my cows watched us as we said “I do.” I walked down the yard to ‘January Wedding’ by The Avett Brothers. My beloved dogs and cats also made themselves comfy on the mismatched antique chairs we provided for guests. During the ceremony, we had a Celtic handfasting and read poetry. Our reception was in the house I grew up in where we cut our pressed floral-decorated cake, toasted champagne, and gave guests surprise vintage books to take home.”
book-themed
wedding ideas
These two book lovers wanted to fill their wedding with as much literary loveliness as possible:
“I studied Literature and now teach in college and Jason is also a big book nerd, so we knew we wanted a book-themed wedding. Our save the dates were tasseled bookmarks, and our invitations looked like books and told our love story. We also used vintage postal stamps featuring some of my favorite authors. The favors were surprise vintage books wrapped in brown paper with hand-dyed ribbons and pressed florals. Our guests also signed library cards with well wishes for our future. Even Jason’s handkerchief tucked in his jacket pocket resembled a library card. We also used my collection of vintage books to create our tablescape, along with crystals and pastel-colored taper candles. I am also a jewelry designer, so I created a special one-of-a-kind pair of earrings made from vintage materials and featuring the dusty blue color from our wedding palette.”
Magical
moments
Here are some of Ashley’s favourite moments from her book-themed wedding day:
Farm Animals
“I knew my animals would be part of the day since we were outside on the farm, but I wasn’t expecting one of my dogs to come up and sit on my dress during the ceremony. We leaned into the chaos though, and it turned out to be such a cute moment. I also had a flower crown made for a cow to wear with the same florals from my bouquet. I loved the pictures of the dogs and cows wearing the crown, although I am not sure how much they loved wearing it!”
Portraits In The Rain
“Rain was predicted for our wedding day, but it held off until right at the end of the ceremony. While we weren’t able to get as many couple portraits because of this, I love the photos we got in the rain in front of the cow pasture. We were all running from the rain, including the cows! It was a really magical moment.”
