Ok so you know that if you send me something glittery and shiny I’m going to be pretty excited straight away. And there was no exception for this Art Deco wedding inspired photoshoot. Inspired by the Great Gatsby, it blends together modern, minimalist and metallic trends with the Art Deco style. It’s sleek, sexy, and elegant, with expensive taste. Just perfect for modern couples that are not scared to try something different a unique as it was shot in the local pub!
As Margo from Margo R Photography explains; “I wanted to create something different and unique, using a style that I love – one that is darker than the classical wedding – yet alternative, elegant & glamourous. So, I moved away from conventional whites, creams, reds and pinks. I chose the colour Gold to have the starring role …… associated with …. sparkle, glitz and glamour.”

Re-creating this art deco wedding look
As Margo explains, a wedding doesn’t have to be big with lots of guests and an elaborate wedding dress. These days many couples just want to have more intimate weddings with the people that matter most. Somewhere they feel relaxed & comfortable where they can drink, eat and be merry.
Why not throw your wedding reception or after party in your local pub with a theme from your favourite movie or era? This will also cut the wedding budget considerably meaning you can invest your cash elsewhere.
The venue here was Margo’s favourite local pub Bread & Roses. Bread & Roses is a Plymouth-based community interest company and local arts hub based on the vibrant and creative Ebrington Street. They serve good quality local food and ethically minded drinks whilst also providing a space for diverse events, including local art exhibitions, performances, and live music for everyone to enjoy. Plus, the interior is just amazing! I love their striking dark green walls, old vintage furniture, array of art and huge green plants. Just perfect for this theme.
And when it comes to choosing your wedding dress, why don’t you break the rules of ‘typical’? Here Margo used a gold dress designed by Misguided to inspire brides who want something different and quirky. The fur shawl adds a real autumnal feel to the outfit and the long sleeves are just beautiful.
